Has anyone attempted to compare Schenn to Voracek at similar ages? Schenn just finish with 59 points at age 24. When Voracek was 24, he finished with 62 points. When Schenn was 23, he finished with 47 points, while Voracek finished with 46 points at the same age.

No idea who he is, but I definitely get that feeling

The new Vegas team owner? Not sure on this myself, but the Penguins' blogger seems to think so.

Voracek put up those 47 points 9actually 46) in an abbreviated 48-game season. It's not a bad comparison, but when you just watch them play, Voracek creates more offense on his own (overall) and Schenn is more of a complimentary player. I don't think he's a bad player, and I want him resigned 3+ years, but I don't think he and Voracek are good comparables.

I'm still trying to figure out why we're watching the Flyers on VLC's TV.

I corrected myself but yes, I see this as the case. However, Schenn should be good enough to surpass Simmonds easily this coming season or the next.

The biggest difference between the 2 players at that age is you could clearly see the elite or upper echelon skill level that Voracek possessed.

I like the term "elite or upper echelon," but I'm worried its use will prevent a large number of comments on these blogs

Now I completely understand if anyone disagrees but Voracek in my opinion doesn't look very good without Giroux. I've always felt Giroux has had to adjust to Voracek, rather than the other way around. If Voracek doesn't have a guy to feed, the points don't come as easily. Just my opinion.

Voracek, the only guy in the NHL that doesn't score points as easily if he has no one to feed the puck to

Well, to be honest, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux never had scoring points no matter who they were on the ice with.

Voracek looked good playing with Couturier for a stretch last year.

Just curious, no sarcasm intended. How did they do points wise and Corsi wise? Jake wasn't lighting the world on fired with Bellemare and Vandevelde.

Good lord, what a beautiful story. We sometimes forget that these players are real people with lives and concerns off the ice. They don't just exist for our entertainment.

Beats me, look it up.

edit: Gordie Howe would have had a hard time lighting it up with PEB and VDV as linemates.

Voracek looks good with everyone. Remember when he made Talbot a 19 goal scorer?

Also LOL at Talbot getting Selke votes in 4 seasons

Jake technically played better with Couturier than he did with Giroux...I think the timing of it all makes it a bit unreliable though

The trend is the same over the last 4 years...its fun to look at stuff like this

Elite or upper echelon Voracek has the highest corsi over the last 4 years among Flyers

I'd like to see Jake paired up with Couturier this season, they compliment each other well. My top 2 lines would be:

Schenn-G-Simmonds
Raffl-Coots-Jake

If Laughton can play effectively with Coots and Jake, so much the better as Raffl could be part of a solid 3rd line with some combo of Wiese, Read and or Cousins:

Raffl-Cousins-Wiese
or
Read-Raffl-Wiese

If Cousins struggles, I can see Raffl as the 3C
