Based on his comments, he's almost certainly going to Boston. He said it's always been a dream of his. Good on GMTM taking a shot at him. Time to move one. |

I can appreciate this kid utilizing the advantages he has by not signing his ELC and thus becoming a free agent. Frankly, the whole situation has been blown out of proportion by Sabres fans because they traded for his rights and therefore felt JV owed them by signing a deal. Nothing has changed for him. He didn't ask for his rights to be traded to Buffalo. He's still going to go through the whole process. The trade ensured that Buffalo would at least have a seat at the table and would be able to make their pitch. Deep down JV truly has an inkling on where he wants to go and I don't believe it to be Buffalo.
Let's look at this objectively. Every team can offer the same max contract so there are no advantages there. Thus, the speculation is what JV is looking for. I suspect he is looking for a landing spot where he can be most successful to maximize the potential of his 2nd contract and stay on the eastern portion of the US/Canada. I'm not sure winning has much to do with it. With JV playing wing he will need a playmaking center to maximize his potential. Without that he's only hurting himself.
Boston - Bergeron and Krejci
Buffalo - ROR and Eichel
Toronto - Matthews and ?
Pittsburgh - Crosby and Malkin
NY Rangers - Steppan and Brassard
NY Islanders - Johnny T and Nelson
Philly - Giroux and Couturier
Montreal - Galchenyuk & Plekanec
Maybe Chicago is in the mix but I don't think the geography works for JV.
At this point I'm really not sure where this kid ends up but something tells me he knows. |

The reports are he wants to stay along the eastern seaboard. Speculation? Truth? I'm not sure. But that's what I've heard from multiple outlets.

Chicago's close enough, not likes its that far of a plane ride back home. And to get to play with a good team may make it worth it.

Don't know why he'd even consider Boston, hard times coming I think. Buffalo seems like the logical choice. |

It's between the Leafs and Bruins. But who the hell cares really. Don't know why Buffalo is making a big deal about this Vesey guy, he might suck.
One thing is for certain though, he's not signing in Buf. |

Kinda sounds like Boston to me.

Yeah, it certainly sounded like a " Thanks, but NO thanks" to the Sabres as well. He's a smart kid, obviously, probably looks at the Kane's, O'Rielly's and Bogosians on the roster and doesn't want to have to dumb it down to fit in in the locker room. |

I don't understand all of this "why would he choose Boston, they're on the downslope" talk. Wasn't it just 2 years ago that Buffalo (hockey heaven) was disgracing the league by celebrating losses for McDavid or Eichel and now fans are talking about being cup contenders? If boston figures out their defensive corps situation, and cut down Chara's minutes (or trade for more pieces and make bergeron the captain), they will be easily in the playoff picture. Being top 5 in goals for last season, does not prove to me that there is a decline coming. Cap wise, it seems boston will be in much better position in two years when Vesey's ELC runs up. We'll see in August though... |

Not trolling the Bruins but I think trading Seguin and losing Ericsson really hurts. |

How you gonna get rid of all the social deviants on the Sabres? They make up 1/3 of the core. |
