It's high. Not THAT high, but I mean, he's 25 years old and has all of 137 points. - PepinoPamplemousse
if he scores around 40 points it's fine. if he scores 20-25 points yeah he's being overpaid. |

Rask blows. Shaw's good.

It's more the term that concerns me because of the way he plays, but yeah.
I'm sure he'll put up 15 goals, 35ish points and it'll be fine. |

The NHL has become a top 9 league lately. He's a third liner sure...but he's a good one.
He can check, can agitate and will bang in a couple here an there.
It's not like he was playing with Toews and Kane over there.
He's 24 years old (25 by the start of the season) so 6 years shouldn't be a concern. They also ate up a couple of UFA years.
Like it or not that contract is pretty bang on IMHO.
I'll hate him like I've always hated the Habs (except for PK always loved him), but the contract shouldn't be an issue. |

Rask is more offensive but still not great.
Shaw is a pest.
Therefore Rask is a slightly below average top 6. Shaw an above average 3rd liner. |

Rask is also 2 years younger and his 48 points put him among the 50 most productive C's in the league.
Like it or not, last season 50(ish) points made you a solid top 6 guy. |

Two things one a surprise the other plain curious. 1. Weber for Subban trade was the shocker of all especially after and on the heels of the Hall Larson one. The fall out of character assassination towards Subban and the hubris of it all was surprising and shocking given his character.
2nd is the lack of signing by first overall pick Auston Mathews. Is this not bizarre already? He has not signed a deal that is essentially capped and why? Not to start a rumour but the guy has hardly appeared thrilled to be a Leaf- perhaps he doesn't want to be there. Anyhow that's the curious thing so far this off-season.
