The Islanders are looking for a 1st line winger. Maybe JVR for Matt Barzil could be the ticket. Or we could flip a couple of them, in a package, for right handed defenseman Jacob Trouba from Winnipeg. - PrinceLH
The Jets are stacked with forward prospects, absolutely no need for more, especially at a cost of Trouba

Robidas has a degenerative leg injury. The NHL isn't allowing any team to fictitiously bury a player with out legitimate injury on LTIR. Nor is the players agent nor the NHLPA.
So no burying Lupul if fit to play. He had abdominal surgery. That isn't career threatening he baring another injury before camp during camp or later which the odds favor well no Robidas Island for anyone. - striker777
I hope Lupul can stay healthy and play, he does have some skill and is quite effective when he isn't broken. |

JVR was drafted #2 overall.....who cares. The jets just made a HUGE dollar commitment to a guy who had his best season, with 29 goals. A lot of teams have taken the same risk....and a few have panned out but a lot haven't. The conversation was JVR and change for Trouba.....I don't care what the Oilers got for Hall, because they were desperate and oh yeah their GM also traded Tyler Seguin for a lot less than he was worth....and just did the same thing with Hall. JVR makes almost 2 million less than scheifele and is only 27 years of age.....not to mention, he really hasn't had a ton of support and has never played for a real coach until babs came here, and even then he didn't play a full season. I know for a fact Leafs turned down Fowler for JVR which would lead me to believe they can get better.....you let me know how the Jets pay Trouba for over 6 million when they only have 1.5-2 forwards lines....and a lot of cash invested in the back end....but then again you are a Bruins fan....maybe point out what you guys have left from the Seguin and Kessel deals..... - Kinggilmour

So what's the risk associated with throwing vets on waivers and then replacing them with ELCs in the lineup? |

are you serious? all the budding superstars? they waaaay over paid Scheifele and to consider him a budding superstar is just crazy...29 goals after his 4th NHL season after playing 20 minutes a game the last 2.5 years....and oh yes Hellebuyck is a buddy superstar too......so was Pavelev 5 years ago....so was Evander Kane....the list goes on and on.
If you think the Jets wouldnt deal Trouba for JVR and change you are crazy!! Trouba will command over 6 million and the Jets have a lot tied up in the back end...and if the leafs included a Dman or prospect in the deal the Jets jump on it!. big strong, young forwards that drive the net and score over 30 goals signed to deals like his are almost impossible to find....you know how I know? you guys signed Scheifele for over 6 million a year after a 29 goal season!! - Kinggilmour
Jets fans are very excited about the direction we are going as are the Leaf fans, and both have good reasons. JVR is a very good player but no, i dont want him and change for Trouba. The Jets are stacked with forward prospects and another winger is not needed. Dont worry about how the Jets are going to pay Trouba, they have an extremely rich owner and have said all along they have no problem paying people. |

man is this proposal ever being pushed by members of Leafs Nation.
$$ are a wash but that's a lot of $$ for a backup.
Would Pavelec even accept being a backup after being a starter for so long. |

Agreed on all fronts.
I can't wait to see the Jets start spanking the Oilers. |

The Leafs said last year that they wanted this kind of problem, they want players to compete for a spot on the team and I think this is a good problem to have.
Now if they could have the same "problem" with the D, it would be even better. |

If the Leafs weren't so loaded up on skill wingers, I'd want them to give him a shot.
I think Edmonton is going to play him on McDavid's wing all season to build his value and trade him, or keep him if he develops good chemistry. Seems like a perfect complimentary player for McDavid. |
