Update I have gotten.
Cam Fowler- Ducks want way too much, and in that Girgensons is a main piece.
Nash- Buffalo really really wants him. Players have even talked to Nash as 'Friends'. He DID NOT visit Buffalo as rumored. An issue with this and other teams is they afraid of Ennis and his injury. You never know if it is career ending (it could be that bad). And how he did it is a true story no sugar coating.
Vesey- Sabres offered every detail to what he would get with Buffalo. Vesey 'verbally' agreed and said he will finish his process but likes the offer. Sabres feel very good that he will be with Buffalo, but we all know how verbal contracts go as of late

- Simple[insert Babcock jokes]. Speaking of which, Babcock did have a verbal agreement and all paperwork ready, and Toronto snuck in last minute and offered more with more control.
As of late Sabres have had talks with Dallas and Calgary. No details could be provided and these are premature talks thus far and they couldn't provide info.
Also- keep an eye out for a couple moves , or attempts, on some players no one would ever expect. Exact words, 'in todays NHL when you can trade Subban straight up for Weber, anything can happen.'

Thanks for the info!

He's not going to play every game. Nobody is saying that. You're saying that if we lose him our team is ruined. I don't think that is true, EVEN if you don't think Nilsson is a suitable replacement. Nilsson should never see more than 15 games, regardless of Lehner's status.
- Phatjohnsn

He's not gonna play every game yet you have him starting 67 games that would be tied for first in the league for games played for goalies ..

And if he goes down you said Nilsson is not a good back up ..

That's the point I'm trying to make we need a backup 1b type

Don't say ullmark lol if he was going to be the back up then why would they move a pick for a goaltender when they could of signed one for free and had a goalie competition

The goaltending is a ?? Not sure how that can be debated.

That being said, Lehner is talented. He might very well be very good

Thanks simple. What I get out of your post is for Fowler the Ducks want more than just Girgs and Murray is balking now. They want Nash but no interest in Ennis but can't seem to get that trade to work. Vesey sounds pretty solid to this point and I've even said previously I like our chances getting him. The Dallas and Calgary talks are interesting and I wonder who we're kicking the tires on.

Thanks again.

We have a backup level talent in or organization - Ullmark.

Look at the vaunted Philly goalies that are being discussed. Lehner had a better SV% than Neuvirth who only played 11 more games.

Ullmark in 20 games posted a .913 SV% to Steve Mason's .918 in 54 games. I'd argue if we had a 41 win team, our goaltenders #s would be slightly better.

Overall my point is that we have the guys to do it if it has to be done. The position has lost its talent discrepancy rapidly. Tons of guys fill-in at respectable levels these days and the disparity between top and bottom isn't all that huge.

- Phatjohnsn

I like Ullmark too, but he's also very unproven
And idk why we are ck print our goalies to those of a non playoff team anyways

I like the talent level of Lehner & Ullmark,
But they're both question marks

Our backup blows though
Idk what Murray was thinking there

I never said anyone would start 67 games. I said Nilsson should never see 15 regardless of Lehner's status. There is a world where Lehner does get hurt as you suggest he will but that doesn't mean Nilsson is the full-time fill in if that does happen.

from what i got- you're spot on. My personal opinion is that we will get Nash. This is just my interpretation and knowing the desire to get him. Also my own unprofessional opinion, i think he is good friends with O'Reilly. No validity behind that but if so, that might be a good push for him and getting him to accept something.

I heard the same that Nash and ROR are friends. I've said I wouldn't mind Vesey and Nash on the LW here. It helps solidify that side for sure. If the Rags want to clear some cap space we can get that done. Time will tell. I've pretty much ruled out Fowler coming here and it seems like Murray is working mostly on the Nash and Vesey moves.

Flyers they have two guys that could be a starter correct ?

I think everyone should look at the teams on top of the list that are in the playoffs they had a good backup situation

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Flyers have 2 guys that could be a starter but neither can take the reigns due to inconsistent starts or injuries.

Those 2 goalies are hurt all the time.

I know you didn't get lots of info, but do you think they are still after a D-Man? I really don't understand going after Nash before getting more help on the blue line. Just my two cents.

Absolutely. A million % correct. Doesn't mean that all is lost if he doesn't. Best case scenario, he's healthy all year and plays great to solidify that position. Worst case, he's hurt and we find out Ullmark is horrible and confirm Nilsson is horrible. If the latter happens, let's female dog about Murray. There are scenarios in between best and worst that could still end up very positive for us (such as further development of Ullmark or another guy we aren't talking about).

So besides goal which is a huge question mark what do we know they need to improve?

They need to add a top 2 defensemen

They need another top 6 LWer (maybe 2 and move Kane to the 3rd line)

What else?

I want to make sure I am not losing my mind (debating with a poster on the Sens blog) he thinks the Sens are a better spot roster wise than Buffalo for Vesey.

He kinda had a rough season for them
Might not be sold on him being a top pair guy?
Just a guess though
