No, he had surgery and so is considered to be injured.
It sounds like the Leafs are pursuing arbitration to decide given that he clearly did this surgery after being told that he would be bought out. - lumlums

Michalek for Pavelec, straight up. - gravyface
Absolutely no need for this. If we wanted an expensive backup we could have kept Bernier. Unless Winnipeg is willing to throw in an asset or two (like when we moved Winnik for Laich getting back a 2nd and Carrick) we have no reason to literally make our team weaker.
I would rather someone come in and forcefully take Michalek's job and actually earn it then come in and be given a 3rd line role potentially hurting their development. |

That was hilarious.
I think the funniest part is that MIB actually took that as a serious question. Surely he realized it was a joke based upon his Kadri hatred?
Although his newest stance that Kadri will be traded "before his new contract reaches the halfway point" may actually come true. I doubt Kadri gets moved in the next season or so, but after that it's anyones guess. All depends on circumstances, what is on offer, and how other players develop. |

Dude, they both have a year left, making the same cap (actually Pavelec is 100K cheaper), so it's a complete wash cap-wise.
And Michalek was a cap dump. How does that make our team weaker? We have way too many forwards as it is.
Better than overpaying for a UFA or prying a backup out of another team for real assets. |

If we were looking for a starting goalie then yeah but why not spend only cash on a backup and keep Michalek to teach and insulate the youth who are not ready (like 2 or 3 will be ligitimately ready as we won't play Marner, etc on the 4th line). Michalek has more value to us. |
