Anahiem doesnt have enough money to sign their 2 stud RFAs and fill out their roster, they should trade for a guy that has a bigger cap hit, brilliant... - CodyMFFC
Murray can retain salary and take a cap dumb. Use your brain for more then a hat rest. |

Who knows, maybe the Ducks will trade Cam Fowler. If they do, they will receive an equal return, for what is a young D with potential to play on a top pairing. Despite Garth continuing to beat the Sabres drum, it will not be for Mr. Gongshow himself, Evander Kane. Kane does not offer enough production, nor is he durable enough to meet his price tag. Not to mention his off ice issues.
The Sabres best hope is to try to get Jim Benning to take Kane of their hands. Any deal at this point will not be a hockey deal. It will be a salary dump just to help wash the stench from his two years in Buffalo. |

Murray is likely shopping Kane because his personal life is an unmitigated disaster. Why would another team want to take him on at this point? |

There's no way the Ducks are getting equal value for Fowler. They are trading from a position of little to no leverage. Everyone knows they have to make a move. By now, rosters are pretty much full after free agency, trades, and the draft. There are a few exceptions. |

Garth continues to dream that Anaheim is going to take out Buffalo's trash. Bob Murray knows Fowler's value (higher than Adam Larsson). Evander Kane isn't worth a bag of pucks at this point - he's over paid and more trouble than he's worth.
It's going to take a package of young forwards on entry level deals, including a blue chip LW, to get Fowler out of Anaheim. Detroit looks to be in a better position than Buffalo to make this deal, and maybe a little more motivated to add a high end puck mover to their blue line. |

If Murray can't get value for Fowler, he'll just trade Despres or Stoner for a bag of pucks. Bob always has options. So he doesn't have to take less than Cam is worth. |

Murray would have to retain more than 1.25 for Anaheim to gain any cap and the Sabres can only retain up to 2.625 mill. Anaheim needs to sign 2 forwards (including Rackell) and Lindholm to fill out their roster. Taking Kane at 2.625 Lindholm for over 5 mill and Rackell around 4 mill they will have less than a million to fill out their 4th line and and injury call ups. The Sabres also dont have much space for a cap dump if they retain Kanes salary. Risto gets over 5 plus Girgensons and Foligno plus injury call ups. Its basic math, why dont you use your brain… |

Nice reply. He was acquired mid way through the 2014/15 season. Then immediately sidelined for season ending surgery. Such a move by GMTM was thought to expedite the Sabres tank job. Neither the trade or the tank job had desired results |

He could try, but I'm not sure anyone wants those players along with those contracts. I think if he could get rid of them, he would have already.
What do you think is a fair deal the ducks would do? I guess they want a top 6 winger that doesnt have a large contract. The only player Buffalo has that would fit that criteria would be Girgensons, who is good. He wouldnt be enough though. Probably have to throw in a draft pick and/or other prospect. Any ideas? |

How did the tank job not have the desired result? They knew there were two great players available, and knew they were guaranteed one of them by finishing last. They got one. Sounds like they accomplished what they wanted. |

Only Sabres fans think the 2015 draft was about two players. It was about McDavid. Eichel would have been selected third if Matthews were a week older. That's a fact, Jack(son) - EugenesAxe
I agree the draft was about McDavid but Eichel was not a bad consolation and Buffalo made sure they got one of the two. Would of, could of etc Matthews wasn't so it doesn't matter does it. You Canadians ought to face the facts very few players want to come and play in Canada even tho McDavid knew he was going to Edm the look on his face was priceless when his name was called. I'm sure poor Matthews is happy he's going to Toronto also. Canada's favorite son Steven Stamkos was coming home to the great city of Toronto lmao after the meeting with them he ran back to TB. Montreal, the mecca of hockey can't get players to sign there per Bergevin. Seven Canadian teams and not one could make the playoffs...get the hint. Worry about the state of hockey in your country and stop worrying about the Sabres.

Bob Murray knows what he wants for Fowler, but he's not going to get it. Fowler's name has been out there for an awful long time, and he was the most talked about player at the draft who was on the trade block, but yet no deal made. Tim Murray said no to the #8 for Fowler and I'm sure other G.M.'s also said no. Bottom line is that you can ask anything you want for what you're selling, that doesn't mean your going to find someone to pay you for it. Anaheim will eventually move Fowler, but don't be surprised when it's for a lot less than you thought. |

Canadians win cups in the States, and Buffalo sure as hell isn't a mecca for FA's.

There's a reason why elite forwards in their prime don't go to UFA, and it's not because of issues in Canada or Canadian teams. Same with why the bridge deal is disappearing: it's just cheaper to hang on to talent than to go out and try to acquire it by trade or free agency.
Be happy that Buffalo and Toronto are doing things right for a change and think of the epic playoff rivalries we're going to have in a few years. |
