Is Manitoba really North America though?

I'd be more nervous if I was VandeVelde or Bellemare

I'd say this move puts some pressure on Cousins and Laughton as well.

There is competition for jobs from the bottom 6 forwards down to the final roster spot of the phantoms. Great to see but puzzling where everyone is going to fit. Especially at the AHL level.

Cool. 2 Russians with a first name of German and Roman. Maybe Hextall can find a Russian defenseman named Dutch Runnerlov as cheap 6/7 guy?

Maybe we could convince German Titov to come back overseas and replace Hakstol.

I'm loving the way Hextall has made it impossible for the Hak line to return, and made it quite likely that only of those three will be in the top 12.

I guess that 2 way contract is the best thing for Weal so he doesn't have to sit in the press box all season.

Still has to be risked to waivers regardless of it being a 1-way or 2-way deal. Whether with the Flyers or another team, he could have a repeat of last season.

Provorov already seems pretty well acclimated.
- johndewar

He does, but it never hurts to have a fellow countryman on your team

Love how everyone always assumes Provorov needs help to get acclimated to North America
- YuenglingJagr

Not what I was thinking, but it can't hurt to have a fellow countryman on the team. Provorov would be making a big jump and Lyubimov has experience as a major pro and a bevy of international experience.

True, but it's not outlandish to consider it as a factor. That said, I think the primary reason was that the Flyers think this guy can help

See those guys over there wearing Penguins jerseys, they are actually Palestinians and Netanyahu signs another letter of his name on a peace treaty every time a puck goes into your net!

True, but there would be a TON of other players from every team available instead of having to waive him late in the season last year where he'd be ripe for the picking.

If he goes through waivers en masse then we have to cross our fingers but I like our odds if he doesn't make the Flyers outright.
