Hextall called Wiese a top 9 player. He'll probably take White's spot on PP2.
- Jsaquella

Should Matt Read start getting nervous, with the presence of Wiese and now Lyubimov?

Yeah I'd think so.

Right now I guess there are some openings in the top 9

Locks
Giroux
Voracek
Simmonds
Schenn
Couturier

I guess after those 5 there will be a competition between Read, Wiese, Raffl, Laughton, Cousins, perhaps Konecny.

I think right now Bellemare and Gordon are pretty much penciled in on the 4th line.

I'd be more nervous if I was VandeVelde or Bellemare

Who is Lyubimov? I've been out of pocket for the last week or so.

Haven't heard of him. Is he an NHL caliber player, or just a depth move?

Hextall seems to really like Bellemare.

Not only that, Belly really doesn't make all that much $$$.

Matt Read, OTOH, is a 3.5 million 3rd line cap hit.

As for VdV....If I were him, I'd re acclimate myself with the Lehigh Valley area.

Another team would have to want to trade for Read for him to get traded.

Don't know. Unimpressive production in KHL, but he had a really good World Championship tourney. Looks like a bottom 6 roll of the dice by Hexy. Maybe he's a Russian to help Provorov(as suggested by a guy that Bradley RT'd earlier)

Provorov already seems pretty well acclimated.

Doesn't hurt to take a flier on a guy for minimal money. If it helps Provorov get acclimated then it makes sense.

Medvedev was pretty much a disaster. Luckily it was only a one year contract. Then to boot he gets a DUI.

Not sure why a straight outta Russia Russian would help a kid who, having been here for 6 years, is completely fluent in the language and culture. More likely if Mr. Kremlin makes the team, it would be Provy helping him.

The rest I agree with. He's on a cheap 1 year ELC, and lord knows Hexy likes his camp competition. It's very low risk. Anything to improve the bottom 6.

Yeah...I think (hope) he was making fun of that guy. Provorov has been here since 2011.

Yup. Matt Read too. Don't think Hexy will have a problem with putting Read on waivers if need be. I like how Hexys bringing in the competition. But the Russian is probably going to push for the 4th line. Weise will push the 3rd line.

If Hextall doesn't pull the trigger and put Aube-Kubel on the team directly out of camp I might be done

True, but is 26 points enough for a $3.5 million dollar player?

There are other options (i.e. - The AMac plan).

Love how everyone always assumes Provorov needs help to get acclimated to North America

Provorov can almost be considered a local. His English is very good and he spent two years in Wilkes Barre/Scranton.

100% agree.

I don't think Provy needs a Russian mentor here.

It's 3.625 million.

The 125k you are omitting is the Homlgren vig.

I think Weise is lock for the top 9. I can see him being moved around on the 2nd and 3rd lines
