Bring him here and just let him know his job is to be a stay at home dman, let McD do his thing, keep the crease clear for Hank and stand up for his teammates when necessary. Have you watched Luke Schenn? He's slower than Dan Girardi. The only thing Schenn can do is what Mcilrath can do. Mcilrath is younger. Why do the Rangers need two of those?

A lot of penguins fans saying today that Schultz isn't as bad defensively as his reputation suggests. I just don't think he was on the Penguins long enough for the fans to see his deficiencies, kind of like how we all thought Yandle's rep of being a liability was overblown because he was so steady defensively only to have him become a ticking time bomb this past season

I think you have to take our comments in context. Some out there had said he is the way first defenseman in the league in his own end. That just wasn't the case. There are holes there, but I believe he can improve....in the right system.

The Pens don't dont spend a ton of time in their own end. Against a cycle.....Schultz is not good. But, for the fast paced game of puck retrieval, head up, skate it out or get it to a speeding forward he's got a future. The Pens forwards limit the opponent's ability to forecheck because of their great neutral zone clogging and speed.

On the Pens, he's a solid bottom pair guy who could have time to develop the rest of his game. On a team constructed differently, he may be a huge liability and never reach that next level. It would be a bad signing for the Rangers. A good signing for the Pens. Just different styles.
