Yay trade for the sake of making a trade. Hall>JVR. Can't wait to get a guy not as good Larsson to be our 4th dman. Need that so badly.

Our management is about 1000000000x more competent than the Oilers management. I'm not worried.

Nah, you just have to be patient, and Chia is not patient with kids. He traded Hall and Seguin for cents on the dollar, but I don't see the Leafs doing the same here. I'd be willing to bet that 28 other teams would have offered more for Hall if they knew that he was in play.

Of course. Make a list then call GMs in order

Should work well...

Well give you JVR for Doughty. No.

Well give you JVR for Subban. No.

Well give you JVR for Hedman. No.

Well give you JVR for Ekblad. No.

Well give you JVR for Emelin. Ok

EXACTLY.

No rush trading JVR when you need a guy like him on wing right now as much as a dman right now. Chiarelli played that game and lost. No issues trading JVR just not right now.

Is there a chance Chia works for the NHL? Trades Seguin for pennies to a team that will only have fans if they are good. Boston will have fans no matter what.

Then he trades Hall for pennies, to a NJ team in desperate need of a make over to win back fans. Edmonton will have fans no matter what, and a superstar like Hall would have been overshadowed by McDavid. That's bad for business. ANd as we know, it is always about the money.

I'm not saying this is the case, just saying it could be a possibility.

First and foremost, Congrats on failing grade 2 english!

Second, while I agree that the first 4 don't happen,
I think there are a few possibilities before you get to Emelin

Pretty sure chiarelli wasn't an idiot before he got to Edmonton but since he's in Edmonton he went brain dead? No, hes the same guy. Just fell victim to "we need D at any cost eve if it means bad trade!"

Maybe...so who you gonna get that's better than Larsson for JVR? Please make this trade quick so I can pile on the hate for Chiarelli.

Which to me means if jvr gets traded, it'll be closer to the expansion draft.

So lose JVR for nothing when he demands 7.5 mil? Or pay him?

Both options are bad.

He has no clue. But since it's the Leafs making the deal obviously he''''''''''''ll be awesome. Especially if they make a list.

This is true. You and I discussed this mere days before the trade and agreed the Oilers would end up overpaying. I just didn't expect the overpay to be so drastic.

Never once said that. He has 2 years left. Trade him next year when ...if...the youth prove worthy of filling his role.or trade him at the deadline in his final year. For now he takes some pressure of the young wingers and gives Kadri/Matthews someone legit to work with instead of (frank)ing them over with unproven players, broken veterans or third/fourth liners.

I'm not sure about trading JVR...yet. The argument is that we have a lot of depth/prospects for the wing.

If that's the case and our prospect wingers are soooo good that we can afford to trade JVR, then why don't we trade one of our prospect wingers for a #2D instead?

Because they aren't good enough....or better put....PROVEN enough yet.

JVR will have value later at the TD this year or next. We should wait and let him help the team a bit this year. At least until we see if Sosh/Hyman/Leivo/Brown/Nylander/Marner/Rychel/Kapanen.....one of these kids can replace him and be CONSISTENT.

Patience.

And if they can't replace him... do we keep JVR for 7.5 mil?

We are not winning the cup next season. We do not need to be patient when it comes to him. What if he gets injured just before the deadline in his final year?

So why trade for Fowler who becomes a ufa the same time as JVR?

Why not keep him? He's big and talented, and aside from Mathews, your young forwards are smallish. You'll just end up overpaying for a similar player down the road in free agency or giving up assets to trade for one.

Unless, of course, you think Evander Kane can fill the void, you should be able to get him out of Buffalo for Teemu Hartikainens rights if you have them.

It doesn't need to be Fowler. But I'd be more comfortable signing Fowler long term to big money than JVR.

JVR is not part of the long term plan. There is no need to be "patient" if a good deal for a dman comes around.

No, we don't.

If a couple of the kids look good this season and the deal is right....trade him at this year's deadline.

He has much better value with another year left on his contract so trading him this season would get the best retiurn.

If none of the kids look ready, you have to keep him. If none of the kids look like they are going to pan out at all....you have to start negotiating.

Let him come back from injury and put up 25g and 30 assists by the deadline playing with Kadri and Marner, then trade him for a much better package than you could now.

Just my 2 cents.
