Ok, I found something. Injecting young players, who aren't of elite talent, or are expected to play above their current skill level, does in fact stall their development....you're wrong on that one!!

1 error in 20 innings of ball sounds good but if you only had 3 balls hit in your direction.....not so much

While I do like the Foo Fighters...not all of it, but if you wouldn't turn your nose up at it ALL...then you would probably find quite a few good tunes off every album.

"MINUS: The most underrated player in NHL history is Marrian Hossa, who has been to five Stanley Cup finals, won three, is the best (or close enough) defensive player of his generation and even at 37 continues to play at a nearly elite level.

If he isn't a first-ballot Hall of Famer, the Hall of Fame should just close. "

You're 1 for 2 on underrated current and recent-former Hawks over the last week. And this was a 500 foot home run. So, pat yourself on the back, James.

I'd be interested to see the data you referred to about wasting young talent by not bringing them up until later. As a long suffering Oilers Fan I say the opposite...bringing young talent in before they really can handle a full 82 game season is a recipe for disappointment, if not disaster. It's worse when players are placed into roles before they are ready, thus componding the negatives and making that situation worse.

If you want the Yotes to finish last, or very close to it, then going more to a youth movement as you suggest would guarantee that imo. A worse result may be the curtailing of progress and causing solid prospects to regress in development.

I'm sorry but you want to hear Foo Fighters, and not RHCP? They are both very meh for me, but Foo Fighter is beyond worse.

I think you're missing the point with development. Sure, they can throw 18 year old kids in, and the higher end talent will probably be able to survive. But you don't want them just to get by, you want them to reach their full potential. For lots of players it means going back to junior and having one or two more years where they play a lot and are able to try things out to see what works. They can also mature physically and more importantly, they can mature mentally, which is a huge part of being a professional athlete.

Love Dave Grohl on drums for Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures and on With Teeth.

But he does write such boring songs with Foo Fighters.

Talking about the Leafs and the sudden switch back to drafting size. It struck me when reports were coming out describing all the standouts with skill and quickness in development camp, that few of these guys had to scrimmage against good sound defensive players. How does anybody judge skill in an All-Star game? John Scott was a stand-out when he got to play in a particularly defense-free game. That may be relevant when people try to judge the progress of the Leaf's prospects.

There is no way to know with the data available because the only 18/19 year olds that ever play are usually guys expected to become elite.

There is also a huge misconception about the Oilers and this strategy. Virtually every player they "rushed" was a top pick and successful. The Oilers problem was and continues to be their inability to surround their young players with quality vets.

I agree. There is a fine line here:

1) You must question everything. Everything.

2) Assuming just because someone has a good job or is a professional that they are infallible is pretty stupid.

3) On the other hand, sometimes professionals really do know things that we don't.

4) Having an iron clad opinion about something is usually never the right move.

But in what light does PK Subban for Weber make any sense? Anyone who defends this so far has looked pretty dumb to me. It could be a genius move, but I am 99% sure it was a terrible move by a guy who should be fired.

So basically nothing is for sure and there is always a reason to do or think the opposite of what you are doing or thinking. Almost like the only smart thing you can do is be open minded, listen and try to be as informed as possible. Oh, and always always always be willing to change your mind.
