Rodin and Pedan fill that need.
- A_SteamingLombardi

That is the direction I was leaning to . Keep Pedan as the enforcer and put a scorer
in the top 6. I was hoping for more proven than Rodin though.

We have 14 forwards right now, we'll have to trade players out to bring in someone or risk losing players to waivers.

I'm pretty sure when he means grit that he's looking for someone to forecheck and lay punishing hits. Not fighting.

WOW if we only separate body from puck in retaliation of something done to the twins we're (frank)ed.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Accidental flag.

Aside from cheap shots(just need someone willing to do it) what else are you going to do? Kopitar(or someone like him) isn't going to fight a 4th line Goon. why have that Goon on to fight another 4th line Goon? it makes no sense. This is why fighting is dying in hockey, it doesn't solve what you want it to do.

Monahan took alot of cheap shots on Hank last year, guys like Gudbranson will be good to apply some of those "taylor hall hits" in retaliation, i agree with the fighting, would just prefure to have a tougher forward who can play hockey not named Dorsett or Virtanen for big hits up front

I'm not calling for a fighter but every player on this team should be trying to separate players from the puck.

This is a level headed and reasonable fan base. I can't see us over reacting for losing a player to waivers.

Especially since we can trade Burrows for three 2nd round picks.

To add to this point, it was quite interesting to see how controlled Crosby was this year in the playoffs. He took hack after hack from opposing players, gave some retaliation and moved on. Not one Pens player seemed to dwell on it, instead they focused on skating, passing and scoring with tenacity. This is another model to emulate, whether it works or not remains to be seen.

This is a great idea, Pedan slots both forward and defense, he can skate and hit, and if need be fight.

And Sbisa.

And Columbus's 2nd, which we don't even actually have yet.

That's why I'm not worried about the future. With assets like that we can trade our way out of any trouble.

So we want to lose most games? Hitting has it's place, but having nothing but player that hit is just as bad as players who never hit. You need a good mix of both. Hitting often puts you out of position, other players one your team can cover for it, but they aren't always in a position to do it.

But he's bad at all those things. He's not versatile, he's universally bad.

How can Hartnell or Kane groom JV if bringing them in sends JV to Utica?
- A_SteamingLombardi

I don't think there is much out there in a trade or a signing that would help groom JV. It would be a full on replacement for him to be sent to Utica for the year.

So how do we figure out Larsen and Rodin then? If Pedan is up who is waived?

I suspect you are being sarcastic? Pedan can skate hit and fight, all at a high level. Hockey sense is the question. And yes, he would be claimed on waivers

I just went through a team by team trade scenario, looked at at all UFAs and I think the best target is Landeskog.

It would be costly , but I would entertain proposals.

Agree but others only knock the idea.

I see Pedan getting traded if he isn't on the roster. As it stands, there is alot of decisions to make in the fall already. Will be a good year to see who pushes for spots.
