Probably because they will only have one line that can score with consistency.

If Willie continues to roll 4 lines, that's true.

I hope he will smarten up, and build a defensive zone faceoff line of Burrows/Etem - Sutter - Hansen. To take the tough assignments.

That would allow a Baer - Horvat -Rodin/Virtanen line to play sheltered minutes with easier assignments, which could evolve into a solid secondary scoring unit.

60 pts in 54 KHL games. KHL is second only to NHL in terms of talent. If he could put up around 60pts in 82 games in the NHL, i'd say that solved our problem of 2c.

I get where you're coming from but you're reaching pretty early. The way I see it is, if they sign him then they have an even bigger issue with forwards.

I love what Benning is doing though. Trying to find a needle in a haystack. JB is building his very own haystack.

Wille Desjardins needs to be a better coach and employ a much different system is they hope to improve defensively. Lets hope he does.
- LeftCoaster

I hope he does too. I think he is a decent coach but I haven't seen anything from him in the last 2 years that's makes me think he really dynamic. With that said this years roster will be the best one he has had to work with yet so here's to hoping.

Shippy is a long shot.

Hudler is a dumb shot.

Canucks playing a more defensive type game is a no shot.

Boeser is a hot shot.

Gudbrandson and Tryamkin are big shots.

Tanev still has no shot.

I'd be interested to compare the two years he has been here and try and find differences in what he tried to do. I think last year was pretty obvious tanking and because WD had all these new faces he just rolled through the lines to get most guys some ice time and experiences.

I can't fault WD for last year and he will definitely be under more scrutiny this year then ever before. Is it his fault? Definitely has to take some of the blame but I'll wait until next year before I judge any more.

The Sedins w Hudler could be pretty dangerous. Hope they sign him.

WTF?
They just signed Erikkson for that reason. Why would a Flames fan care?

Hopefully both rumours continue to stay as rumours because both are not good ideas.

Daniel Henrik Eriksson
Shipachyov Sutter Virtanen
Baertschi Horvat Hansen
Burrows Granlund Dorsett

Yes I know that Vadim is a center but I'm willing to bet that Sutter is probably better on the face-offs and better defensive.

I just went through a team by team trade scenario, looked at at all UFAs and I think the best target is Landeskog.

It would be costly , but I would entertain proposals.

I'll agree that WD deserves more time but no way was he or the team tanking last season, every move they made during the season was pretty clearly an attempt to stay in the playoff race.

WD didn't change his systems or personnel deployment at all between the two seasons and don't expect it to change much this year.

So what would a trade look like to get landeskog? As previous recent trades show Tanev for Landeskog straight up is not far off?

I would try Hutton ( Stetcher replaces) Sven , Canucks second and if I had to CBJs second .

Or if Edler waived one for one

Brayden Schenn is someone who I think could fill in nicely on the second line LW and since he's a C also fill in when Sutter gets hurt.
Him and Philly nowhere near close on a deal. Cost for him probably a bit less then Landeskog. Relatively close in similar playing styles but Schenn took longer to develop.

I just watched the Stecher and Boeser Mic'd up. Those 2 are definitely heads above a lot of the other prospects. Stecher can really walk the line. The next Tyson Barrie or Ryan Ellis or Torey Krug!

Would need to give up a salary in return. Hutton's contract is still tiny. Edler, Tanev would have to go back. Stecher is a R so Tanev could be replaced and everyone moves up. Tree also has said he can play the right.
