I said a few weeks ago hat the Nucks should think about putting an offer sheet for him as he was in the top 5 for scoring in the last half of the season. He could be a potential successor to Henrik on a lesser light but fits in with Linbenning's direction it seems right now.

Spitballing it would be in the $5.5m range as he's not getting Scheiffle or Mackinnon dollars but close to it with his production shown progression for the past 3 years.

The threat of the offer sheet is more likely used than the actual offer sheet. Still, surprised more teams haven't used it. UT with some of the new GM's in the league that might happen in the future, never know?

I think it would cost us at least Sven plus plus, guessing they'd want at least a 2nd rounder?

Schenn is a player the team needs. Pay the price.

You'd probably need to get rid of Sutter as Brayden Schenn makes him irrelevant at center with Henrik, Schenn & Horvat down the middle.

Just a pipe-dream but he's the kind of player the Canucks need in a bad way. Philly has a lot of centers, a few play wing because they have so many. As long as they didn't trade a dman, because they just got their poop together back there, or any of Horvat, Demko or Virtanen....I'm in

as much as I'd like to think we could get him you're right we'd have to somehow get rid of Sutter contract but I think they'd be looking for Virtanen back given it Holmgren there

Schenn could play wing so retaining Sutter would not be an issue. Philly has always been high on Edler that's what it would take to get Schenn here…Edler and Benning would have to toss in another 2nd…oh right we don't have any…lol

I don't see Benning doing that. That is why short term moves like Kane seems to be likely . Stop gaps 2-3 years. I would love Landeskog but the price is too high just like Schenn.

You can be pretty sure we are drafting a forward next year , and also inserting Boeser in the lineup .

This should be up Jim's alley as it does quicken the rebuild with a known potential 1c in Schenn by doing a hockey trade for either Edler or Sven plus plus. Edler isn't the key cog anymore as his minutes will go down this season

If you're constructing a team for three years down the road, what does it look like?

Just saw this on the Buffalo thread. The blogger (who feels that the best thing for Kane would be to go back home) suggests as follows:

Kane for Hutton plus a prospect.

I do this trade (depending on the prospect). What about you? and who would you include as a prospect?

How do you fill the hold trading Hutton makes though? Seems like one step forward two steps back to me.

Yes, therein lies the problem. They would have to go back to using a scrub to eat up the remaining minutes (unless they could make a trade). But I feel overall the trade would make Vancouver better. You have to give something of value to get a guy like Kane. Despite his off ice problems he's not going to come for free

One that has a possible first line center in the system.

IMO you only work a deal for this problem child unless, like Kassian, you're getting some insurance from them. Not giving them a draft pick or young prospect on top of a young player.

I wouldn't add a draft pick either, as that would be overpayment. But I do think Hutton plus a prospect (low end and not anyone named Boeser or Juolevi) would be a fair deal for both sides. Of course given his bottomed out value, who knows how much the Sabres can get in a return for him at this point. Perhaps they wait until his value trends upwards before pulling the trigger?

Damn I wish Sean Monahan would've fallen to 9th in 2013, and knucklehead Gillis would've liked him of course

The problem here is in all likelihood he will probably do the same thing here. JB needs to decide if he's willing pay a hefty price at the risk of disrupting a transitioning core.

Tryamkin is a natural Left hand shot playing Right side.

Edler Tanev
Tryamkin Gudbrandson
Sbisa Larsen

Juolevi should be ready in two years when Sbisa contract ends

Good point, but you lose some offense from the blueline with Hutton gone. A definite weak point with the Canucks!

Hutton makes $900,000 dollars in salary plus he just had a 24 point rookie season. Kane makes $5.25 million, you're absorbing a ton of salary from them and freeing up a lot of cap space for Buffalo, I wouldn't include anything other than Hutton....but that's just me.
