I think richards would be great on 2nd line kaner was on the verge of a mvp type season playing with richards. I would then hav anisimov play with toews and hossa.
This off season we have seen that defencemen carry much more value than forwards and are harder to obtain.
You have to be careful about trading away young ones especially cost controlled ones.
Regarding expansion, aren't teams only facing one player loss? That player may not necessarily be TVR. - 67hawks
The only either guy I see going would be Darling.

Richards plays above the faceoff circles...Toews/Hossa need someone to play below the circles and below the goal line. That's isn't Brad Richards. - Al
But - if he's at 2C - and Anisimov moves to 1LW - who does that for Kane and Panarin?
Bowman has said multiple times that a team can't have too many defensemen. He's back up these words by having a defense core almost 9 D-men deep (with varying levels of talent). It doesn't make sense to trade your 4th or 5th defenseman.
A common thought is that TvR will be claimed in The expansion draft. Its certainly possible but there are other options too. Could Stan leave Kruger exposed and use his cap hit to help re-sign Panarin?

I believe you are on to something, if not Kruger, one of the core.
Bertuzzi was released from his professional tryout offer with Binghamton on January 21, 2015, after posting no points and a minus-3 rating in his 2 games played with the Senators. He subsequently retired that year.
JJ ,most have a quote " source or a guy" on the in, mine is alluding to Versteeg,Vrbata ,not even on the table, As of now same with Richards,
Waiting it out, gonnagivekids like McNeill anHartman a genuine chance to make the club along with possibly a couple of others from the college ranks.the way it was put to me is that is the plan unless something falls into their laps which is to good tobe true.
Also the door is closed for them trading any more kids for an aging veteran even with salary retained.
I think come camp we willbe just fine without being stupid anymore.
RE: Saad, Sharp,Leddy,Daley,Ladd trades. Time to see what the fruit tree has to offer.

Not sure but can't have a foot on every base and the lines won't be the same as last year...Kane has done pretty well without a true 2nd line center in the past. If I had to pick a spot to take a chance it would be at 2nd line center...My thought was to trade AA...but now another role for him may be in the works.
An F1 to crash and knock pucks loose like a Lucic light? I think he fits that role although I don't see it as a fit as money needs to be freed up for Panarin. - Mr Ricochet
Someone said Liam Coughlin possiblycouldfit that bill? Anyone ,on this kid?

Great blog👍
Needed some posetivity after all the blogs about how the Hawks is just getting wors and wors. I hope a long rest this sommer will help players like Toews and Hossa, player I think underpreformde last season.
Curious that Hudler has not signed yet. I hope he is holding out for the Hawks, but there are plenty of teams that would love to add him to their Top 9 Forward group. He is not my first choice bc of his perimeter style of play, but they need more NHL-quality scoring depth. Hudler on line 3 is very intriguing. As for Vesey, fingers crossed, but this feels like more of a long-shot than Mike Reilly last year.....
When is the trade deadline associated to the expansion draft? If it is the TDL of 17 I could see some pretty crazy trading going on. - eagle50
You might be right but I think too much is being made of the expansion draft.
A team can only lose one player and the addition of anther franchise has been rumored for quite awhile. I don't think it is going to cause a frenzy of last minute activities. Could there be more trades-Sure that's plausible, but I think GM's will be prepared.

I just assume they do nothing now til decisions are made by Vesey and Shipachyov. - DarthProbert
I think I remember reading a few blogs back that Ship and the other Russian of interest (name escapes me) become available around now; maybe July 10th? If they are available. It's all a mystery. But maybe some time this week we get some good news about them signing with Chicago.

There are 2 options to protect players in the expansion draft:
a) Seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender
b) Eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender
Everyone seems to believe that the Hawks will choose option A, but I think they'd be better off with B...Protect Kane, Toews, Hossa, AA, Keith, Seabs, Hammer, TVR and CC. Since Panarin would be exempt, what other forward would you want to protect? Krugs? Would you rather lose Krugs or TVR?
RADOVAN BONDRA is comin to town m'ladies and m'gents. Gonna crack that 1 lw spot baby. Whoo ho. Actual hockey type action taking pace. It's been tooooo long.
Having a brain cramp. When BR played with Kane, who was the LW? Was it Sharp?
I like the idea of BR coming back and that allows AA to play LW with Toews. What will be interesting to see of 72/88's stats drop at all. AA does the dirty work and goes to the net which allows 72 and 88 to roam. BR does not play that way. If BR were to come here and centers 72 and 88, does 72 learn to be a net crasher? I think he can do it.
