Think they are trying to get some picks &/or prospect for one of Dallas' goalies?

We'll excuse it away as being something to do with the team in front of them and not the goalies themselves.

But in Andersen has more wins, he's a superstar and Bernier sucks butt nuggets

Gotta love what Lou is doing. He's really setting up this team to have plenty of cap space to build around your new core.

Anaheim? Not sure the point of this trade for them unless they just don't view Gibson as the starter.

I'd say that's an absolute given if he is the starter.

How can they retain? they already paid almost half his salary and they can only retain up to half?

I think they are going to try to have some level of competitiveness for this upcoming season as well, being Centennial and all.

I don't think they are done

Hey Mike,
Any word on the draft pick involved or the condition?
And any word if there is any salary retention?

Well to be Fair...if you are talking about the Goalie move... he traded Bernier who is on an expiring contract and signed a goalie to a longer more expensive deal...so less cap space

your second question.. I assume it has to do with Nonis and Carlyle now in Anaheim.. poor them

Great, now Jonathan Bernier is the backup goalie on a California team which means the Leafs are going to trade for him.

Lou doesn't have to confirm any of this information. Not even with the league. He's above that.

Little know fact, but we are actually retaining salary on 7 players. The league don't dare ask Lou for confirmation though.

Chris Johnston ✔ @reporterchris
The #leafs paid Jonathan Bernier a $2M signing bonus on July 1, so the #ducks are only on the hook for $2.15M in actual salary this season.

I think theres something else in the works

I think you're done as far as acquiring major players this year. The signing of Polak for one season is a sign they're just trying to fill bodies for another year.

I think next year you guys will make some pretty big splashes.

If I were you guys, I'd find a way to make a move for Barrie. With COL reported to be shopping some of their top players, it could be a good match.

I just mean collectively that he's making smart moves that will leave you guys space to really support your new core.

Save these celebratory GIFs and posts to rehash them in three years when you guys get rid of Toskala, er Anderson.
- Rocket_Launcher

Good luck getting rid of that Andersen contract if he sucks.
