I am sure he would trade him if He could at this point. I am not sure where I am with this idea. I would trade Bailey for a can of Pepsi at this point to save the 3.3.. but Halak when Healthy was still Elite level goaltender. I liked Him/Greiss tandem. - niteislander
How about a half empty can of warm Mr. Pibb for Bailey? |

Nice goodbye to the fans by KO - NYI44
Smart of his agent not to let him burn his bridges behind him. You never know when you'll be back with the same team, right PAP?
Nice goodbye, as you said, but I guess I got spoiled by earlier Islander teams. When KO says, "We had a nice run", I have to think he'll be REALLY impressed if he ever plays on a team that wins more than one playoff series in 8 years. |

Nice article, kinda weird way to end it though.
Saying goodbye to Isles fans by basically saying he thinks he has a better chance to win a Cup in Buffalo.
But good on him, it's a classy way to go out. I won't necessarily miss him as a player but he seems like a good enough dude. - eichiefs9
I noticed that, too. At first I thought he was just addressing Islander fans, then at the end he seemed to be addressing Sabres fans. Oh well, good luck, KO. I always liked the guy, just didn't think he was worth what he was demanding in $$. I'll root for him in Buffalo, unless they're playing the Islanders. |

I knew it was the fans fault for all of those bad line changes and too many men penalties. |

Had he been able to put it all together semi-consistently, he would have been a really highly valued RW in this league. Unfortunately, he's too wildly inconsistent.
I don't think his contract is a bad one. I thought he'd get near $7M AAV.
I know how complimenting Staple is received around here...but he had a good point: if we had re-signed all those guys and done nothing else...would anyone have been saying that we "improved"? I don't think so. It was time for a change and Kyle got the opportunity to be courted by numerous teams and have his day in the sun. Good for him, good for BUF, good for the Isles for making a tough call. |

I agree bringing the same team back was not the answer. The Isles and KO and Frans needed a change. |

He got less than I expected but the same team wasn't the answer to get better. As it stands I think we gained more than we lost, although I wouldn't have minded keeping Nielsen. Does sound like snows still exploring options in trade market so we will see if any additional changes. |

Ladd and Chimera both add some championship experience with cup runs and regular season runs plus factor in more leadership with potential youth addition. PAP comes at minimal cost and and is an upgrade over Bernier and Boulton as a minimum. |

Pa will be playing in the top six most likely, I can't see them dropping him lower. If he can put up 18-20 goals it'll help a lot, especially at that cap hit |

No, if you're not moving forward, you're moving backward. If they had brought back those 3, we have the same team....again. They would have gotten worse because other teams around them are getting better. By better I mean making moves in an attempt to be better. Some don't work, some do. I was very happy to see Ladd & Chimi sign. It's a sign of change, progress. Now if only we can progress behind the bench & the desk..... |

I agree to a point. But you can't improve if your losing and just replacing. To get better, (which in my opinion today we are not) you have to keep important pieces and add what the team lacks in FA signings and trades. They keep Frans and sign Chimera and Ladd then your better iMHO.
If you need the Cap space to make it happen then make it happen package a Grabbo, Bailey or Kuli with a pick/picks and make space like most contending teams GM's do.

I absolutely agree. My point wasn't just get rid of a couple and bring in a couple. You do need a core, and you do need to add pieces correctly. My point was simply if you keep the same team year in and year out without any change (ie Crappy) and expect a different result, you have insanity. Yes there can be player improvement which might turn into better results. However I think this team needed a shot in the arm with some different players. If Snow doesn't do anything else, then you are absolutely correct, this team is not better. I think we all pretty much agree that there is a trade coming. |

But Chimera is an upgrade over Martin, and I think Ladd is an improvement over KO. Now, this is where it's interesting, if Snow makes a trade for a 1w, you have Strome/Nelson at 2c/3c (depending if one gets packaged). Then you can have ?/JT/Ladd, with PAP at 2w/3w based on the rest of the players. If nothing else happens, yeesh, a little trouble. |

Isles get another wing for JT to go along with Ladd and it really changes things in a good way. The focus really needed to be and continues to be moving Halak and Bailey or Kulemin so they have the room to add another wing. |
