This just in from a reliable source....
Halak still isn't skating. As in not since the season-ending injury.
As in, doubtful for WHC which means he will be difficult to trade if he is not playing.

Sorry for the bad news on a Monday morning but since certain beat writers have failed to report (or aren't aware), I felt I was obliged to keep the fans in the loop.

That's all in the info I have. Nothing more specific.

Oh, so now an insider source is reliable? THAT'S NOT FACT!!!!! Sorry, just wanted to channel oiler fan from Saturday.

Wonder if this could be career ending. Or at least ltir.

I tried to get more info but my friend didn't know. All I know is that he couldn't participate in a Summer youth goalie clinic that he has done in the past. He's on his feet, just hasn't been on the ice.

Well, hopefully he makes a full recovery, if nothing other than a humanitarian perspective.

Snow and Staple are off till October. If in fact true it may force him into retirement.

Got word last night that Jaro Halak needs surgery to repair a sports hernia. Not sure if he's had it yet. 6-8 week recovery. #Isles

if he had hernia surgery near the end of May he won't be skating yet because he'll still be in the 6-8 week recovery window.

he won't be moved until he shows he's recovered, which means that if he plays in the world cup and plays well, there may be some interest in him. If not, he'll be with the isles in camp.

Should have kept Hamilton although it was rumored he wasn't well liked and didn't kill it in Calgary this year.

Find my any Boston sports player that was traded or left via free agency that this Rumor is not the case. It always makes me laugh....

Wade Boggs, Carlton Fisk, Nomar, Pedro, Fred Lynn, Johnny Damon, Manny, Tyler Seguin, Mo Vaughn, Papelbon, etc. All were run out of town.... never believe that crap when it's from Boston....ever..

I hope the Isles can still move Halak and Bailey or Kulemin. I would not mind brining in a Jeff Carter for JT's line if we can move salary.

Wow! On the new Sabres board, someone there posted that KO was the top free agent in the group and bragged how they were able to get him. Albeit it was in response to a Toronto troll, but...

He probably was, outside of Stamkos before he re-signed. But "top free agent" doesn't necessarily mean that he's a great player. He'll be a nice complimentary piece for them but if Sabres fans are expecting a game changing player then I think they're sorely mistaken.

Despite what Pierre and his NBC buddies think, KO is not a great power forward or leader. He is a nice 2nd line player, but he is not a core guy you can count on to come through in the clutch.

Backes, Lucic, Eriksson. I agree that it doesn't make him great, but there have been a couple in there making him sound like Kyle OkJesus.

I'm sure he'll do ok for them, and I don't have anything against him. I do think he had enough of Crappy and wanted a fresh start with a better coach. Yes, I do realize that this horse has been beaten more than Ishmael.

It was Snow that he had the issue with, allegedly.

I wish him the best in BUF and I think it's time to move on from him, he's as afterthought now. He'll get a nice standing-O his first game back at the Barclay's and he deserves it. After that: just another player on another team.

I don't think he was ever off his feet. But if it was a groin, it would be stupid to go back to the ice especially in off season.

Im really not worried about Okposo. No recent islander that we let go has gone on to be more productive with his new team. Closest was Streit, but even with him its not that we didn't want to sign him, snow didn't want to give him the length of contract he wanted. sure enough, last year he had only 26 points.

In regards to Okposo.. It's a big sign for Buffalo for sure. He was the guy that a few teams wanted and they were able to get him to sign on the bottom line. They should be fired up on him being on their team.

We always talked about Okposo and his flashes of brilliance. He has at times showed us just what he could be in some games. you never know what happens when he has a different coaching staff. It may be a great sign for them...

The downside is we had him a long time and he was Sooooo inconsistent. He got that mysterious eye injury that we may never hear how it happened but on a contract that long it should be a concern (obviously I hope the guy stays healthy).. and his decisions on the ice drove me nuts.

To me Okposo is a 2nd or even a 3rd line wing that could possibly create something out of nothing.. rather than how we used him b/c He was not a sniper or finisher. JT setting him up did not make a ton of sense. He seemed to shoot when the goalie had an open look (often right in the chest on a PP), and not shoot when the goalie was screened. ...

I am not upset to see him leave but would not be surprised if he really excelled in a new system.... with a new coach riding his arse.

I think Both OK and MM were upset that Garth did not communicate at all what his intensions were going into the end of the season. Not even a low ball bid... " Hey you have been great but I think u will make a lot more in open mkt... blah blah blah"

To have put as much time as these guys did into this team and be met with silence is a little unprofessional to say the least. High school ish.. actually.

I think it had a lot to do with why they lost Franz in the end too.

I think they were both professionals/good soldiers while on the team. Its the smart move as no ody wants a crybaby on their team. Wonder how Garth is interacting with Halak as he has repeadtedly stated his displeasure with 3-goalies.

I am sure he would trade him if He could at this point. I am not sure where I am with this idea. I would trade Bailey for a can of Pepsi at this point to save the 3.3.. but Halak when Healthy was still Elite level goaltender. I liked Him/Greiss tandem.

I don't see a new coaching staff changing much for Kyle. The thing that frustrated me the most about him is we heard how strong he was but we never saw it on the ice. I'm glad the Isles didn't sing him to that contract.

Nice article, kinda weird way to end it though.

Saying goodbye to Isles fans by basically saying he thinks he has a better chance to win a Cup in Buffalo.

But good on him, it's a classy way to go out. I won't necessarily miss him as a player but he seems like a good enough dude.
