Fair point. Any person with a son trying to play in the NHL should be barred from front office positions.

We gave up a third rounder for him to give him the red carpet treatment. So I dunno why you'd be mad over that. But I'd be pissed if after all this he doesn't sign.

If I were Murray and if Vesey doesn't sign in the next day, I would grant permission to the teams Vesey is interested in and let them talk before Aug 15. This way the sabres know before Aug 15 if he is coming or going.. Plus it shows Vesey that the Sabres are not afraid of comparing themselves with any other team in the league. Not even sure if Murray has that ability to grant permission for other teams to talk..

You couldn't even sign your home town boy that was free for the taking.

If all you have to feel good about is your coach, that's a pretty sad state of affairs in TO......I've never heard a fan base use their coach as a bragging tool as much as you guys do.

Don't fear, I'm sure he'll want out in a year or two, just like every other remotely capable player TO gets their hands on.

Ehh, I like the aggressiveness of GMTM here...he has 5 weeks to continue to push Buffalo on Vesey ... Likely other teams will have a couple of days. Not saying He signs in Buffalo, for I truly believe he doesn't know yet where he wants to go ... Hence why the 5 weeks of brainwashing may give the Sabres an advantage.

A 3rd is a relatively low cost...and the Sabres had 4 of them at one point, making it a better value for the chance to negotiate longer.

I think you invite the kid to Harbor Center, show him the arena, woo him a bit....but after that I think you've got to let him be and wait for him to make a decision. Anything more could really start to get annoying from the players perspective.

If you're a 23-24 year old kid, with an opportunity to play anywhere in the NHL, you take the chance to look at every option. I don't blame him one bit. Being the same age, I know I'd do the same thing. Even if he told Nashville he would sign, so what? He changed his mind, he didn't sign anything. I hope he signs here, but best of luck of signs elsewhere.

Great analogy....unfortunately, it only makes sense if you've won/accomplished something, i.e. the bride part.
