I don't know if you saw the reports yesterday - it was buried on the bottom half of the front page of the Globe and Mail - but the Leafs have switched the shaving cream in the dressing room from Gillette to Barbasol.

Leafs management is stupid if they think they can just make these arbitrary changes without it affecting player development.

Sure, Nylander may never need to shave, but what about Brown, Matthews and Bracco?

And will Polak maintain his monobrow with the new shaving cream?

We obviously need Glucky to give his opinion on this, but I'mm guessing this will have a negative affect on the 2018-19 season.

what's the caphit and term on wingmanwilly's contract? We better not be giving him a nmc...
- Tumbleweed

Overpaid and underperforming

Not a full NMC, just a partial NTC, but it basically states that I can only be traded to Buffalo, so basically a full no-trade

After a period of the Development Camp scrimmage, Team Blue (Greenway, Engvall, Brooks) leads Team White (Lindgren) 3-1. #TMLtalk

Matthews is on Team White. #bust

As someone who shaves their head, Edge shave gel is the tits. You'd think an organization that employed Mats Sundin would have better sense than to go to Barbasol.

"A very hardworking winger and great team player. Grundström plays an aggressive in-your-face type of game with plenty of intensity. Is strong on his skates, forechecks well and is very valuable on the penalty kill. He is not the most technically skilled player, but will chip in offensively and reads the game fairly well. Does a great job around the crease and along the boards. Great character with good timing in his hits. (EP 2016)"
-Carl Grundstrom (57th overall, 2016 Draft)

Both Korchkov and Grundstrom (sick last name for the brand of hockey he plays) were ranked 6th (Grundstrom) and 7th (Korchkov) among European skaters. They were taken 31st and 57th overall. I'd say that Grundstrom is a for sure bet to see on the Leafs within 3 years.
Despite both picks being ridiculed I would actually venture to say these players were steals.

Korchkov has always elevated his game in the playoffs - something to be weary of when it comes to Russian players, and has great size.

Even Woll has a nice resume and is committed to Boston College where he will be the #1 goalie - as well carries great size, and continue to develop while Andersen holds the reigns for the parent club.

Between Sparks, Bibeau and Kaskisuo getting close to NHL ready we will also be able to find an RFA backup in that group which will benefit us in a cap situation.

As well if any of these goalies become #1 material we would be able to trade him away for future assets, or hold a strong duo in the crease with Andersen locked in for 5 years.

I love the diversity of Hunters picks this year. 4/5ths of our players drafted last year were in the CHL, not including Bracco who opted out of college hockey for the OHL, which makes 7 of 9 players in the CHL from 2015 draft.

This year was completely different.
Of our 11 players drafted only 5 were in the CHL; 2 drafted from the OHL, 2 from WHL and one player from the BCHL. Less then 40% of our picks were from the CHL this year.
The rest were from European leagues or American development programs.
2 from KHL, 2 from USDP, 1 from SHL and Matthews from the Swiss league (NLA).

As well Hunter went for older players in this draft. I can't remember exactly what he said but it was along the lines of elder players still developing and having more room to grow.

I think we won't see a draft like this again from Hunter, unless this shows to pay huge dividends, because I think this draft was done with the knowledge and understanding of expansion drafts outside of the Black Knights.

With overage and European players, and rules set in place for an expansion draft, I think I know the reason why Korchkov, Grundstrom, Woll and Greenway were drafted. These players all have contracts or commitments to college that will keep them away from AHL for at least 3 years - which keeps them exempt from expansion rules.

I personally think Hunter is a (frank)ing genius.

Best thing to get is Proraso and a shave brush. I've been using that same one since 2010, no (frank)ing lie.

I only shave twice a week, but still. Aerosol is such a rip-off. And the brush gets your whiskers up so it's easier to shave.

Not a fan of gels since they clog my razor too easily but I don't shave my head.

From everything I've read over the years, the mentorship the vets provide to the young kids is more on an everyday living level. These kids have been taken care of their entire lives - living with billets, etc.

All of a sudden they are living alone or with other kids, travelling around North America. They need to transition to adults.

The one story that sticks with me - I think it was Coffey and Kurri living together. Their energy levels were really low. Turns out all they were eating at their apartment was Oreos and milk.

- Atomic Wedgie

Holy crap.

You're probably right. Everyday things have a big impact on the player.
