Actually, the Leafs GM is multi Stanley Cup winning Lou Lamoriello. Yes, the Leafs have been bad for the past decade but that history does not doom a franchise. See Chicago Blackhawks. Top teams draft, develop and manage assets well. The Leafs are on a course for success. So are the Sabres. There is no need to be jealous.

Why exactly do we even need Fowler anymore? We got a LHD. We don't need anymore. Fowler's been overrated for a long time. Unless the deal is bringing us something of a scoring threat back no way we do anything for Fowler.

Kulikov, McCabe and Gorges are great for the LHD.

Ristolainen, Bogosian, Franson and Nelson are great for the RHD.

If they want Fowler they will need to give up value. A top young player, not just spare parts.

So if Girgs is a 3rd liner, what does that make Komarov? Kadri? Bozak? Girgensons playing third line simply because we are stacked at center. Not many teams have the talent we have at center. The Laughs included.

Garth has been trying for a year to get the Ducks to take out the Sabres' trash. The Ducks are not trading Fowler for a serial bad boy (Kane) or a 4th line center. Detroit has more to offer. Edmonton set the market, and Fowler skates circles around Larsson.

Agreed. I don't really think having a former Cup winning GM honestly makes a difference these days with the knowledge scouts have to present to the GM and coaches. Toronto is all about names though. They could've done exact same if Nonis was still at the helm. Nonis was on his way to tear down the roster so IMO you'd have essentially the same roster. Definitely still have Matthews. Nylander? Who knows who he'd pick there.

What you think about Kadri? You still want him in the fold?
