exactly. wtf is going on here? why is an anne of green gables loving, potato farmer commenting about vancouver? shouldn't you be waiting for your next welfare cheque?
- RealityChecker

Fixed.

But yes, for sure. I'm of the crazy belief that if we all try our best, our potatoe creating humans can equal out ( and maybe cancel out?) hating, successful people with a lot of money and together between potatoes and massive prejudice, we can make this country (which I'm forever grateful for) one of the best in the world

I dont think he blamed Asians in a derogatory way. He stated that first generation Canadians and more specifically new immigrants aren't likely to be big hockey fans. Hence, somebody new to a sport is more likely to take an interest in a winning team. Look at Blue Jays mania that has swept the country. All kinds of new fans have appeared out of nowhere
- CanuckDon

thank goodness that mania hasn't swept into Metchosin country

I think I figured out how the deal for Kane would look.

E.Kane + 2018 3rd for Sbisa + CBJ 2018 2nd.

that mania is all media driven... who really cares if they are the only canadian team in MLB...

Funny how on the one hand some canadian people (media) condemn the nationalist fervour of the pro-Brexit camp, and Trump supporters, but then stoke the same nationalism to get people to support a team (blue jays, leafs, etc...) that has no connection to most of canada, using that same nationalist appeal that they condemn in others.

Why is this funny?
all good points that i've been going on about since the TDL.
He's good, local, good mentor, would have signed for cheap (allowing us to move Sbisa for whatever).

I'm not crying about him moving on, but it's not a stretch to argue that our D would be improved with him in teh lineup.

well if you'd rather debate the merits of Toronto v Vancouver, thinly cloaked racist arguments about Canucks fanbase or the economy....fill your boots

It's summer. Going around is circles is all we've got. We've got three more months of rehashing the same old arguments with no one convincing anyone of anything.

I still think Hamhuis has at least a few more good years in the tank. Not to mention he could've been an excellent mentor (along with the Sedins) for the kids. Obviously Dallas feels he can still be an effective defenseman and signed him to a very reasonable contract and term (you have to figure he would have given Vancouver a home-town discount, so it would have been that much better of a deal for the Canucks). I'd definitely take Hamhuis over Sbisa any day of the week. It's disappointing Vancouver didn't even try to work something out but such as it is. I guess this will hopefully provide room for one of the youngsters to break out. In any event, I wish Hamhuis the best, a total class act.

Personally I'm not in favour of any of those topics, and like you I owe &20 because I thought Hamhuis should have been resigned. But he's gone and it's another stupid article by Botchford...nothing Benning does is applauded by this hack.

If anyone wants to discuss past moves carry on, a simple round and round we go shouldn't be criticized with all the idiocy I've seen posted that last few days...carry on, I'll take my leave now.

I think the Nux brass was in a pissy mood cuz they couldn't trade him in time during the TDL cuz they were waiting on him to greenlight dallas, so they decided f* it, let him go somewhere else for a couple of years...

I want to buy a Canucks jersey but I'm thinking I'll have to wait a while because I want a Hutton jersey but with the way the team has been going I feel like there are no safe buys except the twins and maybe Horvat.

I like the new defense, but my only comment on it is that its a curious decision given they want to be competitive. WD said it was challenging last year trying to win and develop young players in the NHL. Having Hamhuis in the lineup makes the team significantly better, especially in a 2nd or 3rd pairing role BUT at the same time, you want some youth like Hutton/Tryamkin/Larssen (if you want to count him) to take on bigger responsibility this and next year. Tough situation, but I still believe they will be better than last year.

On another note, I am looking forward to seeing some of the new prospects in camp this fall. Stecher, Juolevi, Jasek and Demko have impressed those in attendance this week and I am curious to see how they match up against the NHL bodies
