While I like Tanev, I'm wondering how long his body will hold up to the type of game he plays. Plus he is older than all the rest. Also Hutton is going to be top 4 if not top pairing. |

Hutton moves up to where Tree is, Tree moves down to the Left and Stecher over to the right side.

I like the idea of Left and right pairings. I'm hoping Edler plays well this year and if the season doesn't go as planned is asked to waive his NTC. |

Tanev is only 26...Juolevi should make the team next year...point being that Tanev can hopefully be a top pairing D man for the next 5 or 6 years. |

I guess it does make sense. The one vet on the blueline should be the brick wall that he is. I just hope he doesn't shatter all his bones blocking shots. |

Edler is so under appreciated in this market it's shameful. The guy plays 24 minutes a night, near the top of the entire league, against all the other teams toughest competition. For the past three years he's had next to nothing in terms of help back there.
It's nice to see the organization is FINALLY surrounding him with adequate dmen so they can reduce his minutes to a manageable level. |

The problem is he isn't a number 1 on any team with good D. Even if the guys behind him are better, and they certainly look to be, he will stick out for the wrong reasons. Until we have someone above him in the lineup, which isn't likely to happen before he's traded or retired, he will get this negative attention. |

From nucksmisconduct:
"Sportsnet has published a 'summer power rankings' to show how each team has improved. Apparently the Canucks have improved less than the Blackhawks, who lost Ladd and Teravainen, and LA, who replaced Lucic and Lecavalier with Purcell and Latta. Righto."

At first I just put it down to typical West Coast bias. |

I don't have an under appreciation for Edlers game, my problem with Edler is that he has been injured the past couple seasons. He would bring back the best value because he has a good contract. Also have a few good left side young players coming up to make him a bit more expandable. |

Tanev's NTC kicked in 7 days ago. Plus there will be no need to move him before it ends really. I think Larson will be a TDL player if we are out of the playoffs(provided he has a decent enough scoring year) Hutton I see being a 50pt defenseman within 2 years and would be in our plans longer than Larson. |

I like Edler as well. But in the last year of his contract we should trade him for assets and replace with Juolevi. This gives Juolevi 2-3 years to develop into a top 4/2. |

That's maybe ten teams in the league. The guy IS the Canucks best all-around dman whether you like it or not. Do they need to improve on him, yes, every team needs to improve on their best players, that's what makes them relevant.

Every successful team keeps drafting and developing to the point where you can do this. I hope the Canucks can do that. The push from below has to be there. |

The amount of D to put up 50 points in a season has been increasing for years now. I just looked, so i'm not making it up. last year there was 12, 11 in the previous year and 9 year before that. 5 back the year before the lockout. |

Remember all the talk about Barrie being traded for Tanev and a package I'm thinking it's becoming less and less a possibility of Barrie being moved only because he filed for arbitration and unless Col is willing to walk away from arbitration and lose him for nothing looks like they'll either get him signed or he's available next year as Col can't trade him for a year after arbitration.
Landeskog still? |
