151 points in junior in his draft year. I believe he won the OHL scoring title (could be wrong on that one).
But hey, he's still playing hockey!
Edit: It's crazy how that guy never actually had a real chance on the NHL.... never more than a couple of games here and there despite putting up decent numbers in the AHL. - Scabeh
His first year of draft eligibility he only had 43 points in 55 gp. Marner had 126 in 63 gp. |

Pavel Brendl. - PepinoPamplemousse
Different era, and so is Locke really. Stack Marner's 17 yo season against guys over the past decade. He stacks up really well.
Points
Rank Player Team Points
1 Pavel Brendl Calgary 134
2 Dylan Gyori Tri-City 118
2 Brad Moran Calgary 118
4 Chad Hinz Moose Jaw 117
5 Scott Gomez Tri-City 108
6 Shawn McNeil Red Deer 103
7 Brett McLean 2 teams 101
8 Bret DeCecco Seattle 100
9 Ryan Robson Brandon 94
10 Oleg Saprykin Seattle 93
I would venture to say that firstly, many of these guys went bust because the NHL changed its rules after the lockout, plus, really, one can also say the quality of players in the WHL that year were obviously poop. |

TJ Brennan was the best defense in the AHL and definetely has a future in the NHL with the Flyers.
- Eklund
What a mistake by Lou and Shanny! - Scabeh
Can't defend for poop. Was a disaster in the playoffs.
Won't miss him. |

Flyers have 2 if not 3 top notch prospects on D ready to come up ON TOP of the Ghost.
Provorov
Sanheim
Morin
AHL Brennan will be the case. - Lucas.Neilson
To be fair if you want to keep Brennan in the NHL to be a 6/7 PP specialist playing ~10 mins a night that's not the worst thing... he's not going to get much time 5v5 or 4v5 though... |

.....didn't you bring up Corey Locke in the first place? I'm just saying Locke's 150 point season technically wasn't his draft year....it got him drafted though.
Locke was actually one of the first AHL players i ever interviewed, seemed like a guy headed to the NHL at the time, but there was some background chatter in Hamilton that he wasn't quite dedicated to his trade. |

Perhaps, I never fully understood how this guy managed to fail.
I only brought Locke up as an exemple because someone mentionned being small doesn't matter because "Johnny Hockey".
Maybe I'm wrong, but size does matter, the very talented ones will manage to make it to the NHL and have success in this league, but history has shown us numerous small players dominating junior or the AHL and never have the same impact in the NHL.
This, in no way, means Marner won't make it. Hell I love that player and think he'll be a great asset for the Leafs. But I'm always more careful when it comes to small players transitionning to professional hockey because sometimes they just can't adapt their game to the next level. |

You're right on this front for sure, but I think with this whole "analytics" movement and "puck possession" , we're seeing a lot more of those smaller players getting longer looks that guys like Corey Locke never really got.
Also some interesting numbers about avg. weight going lower the last ten years in this article:

The wedding. Anybody who chooses sports over family is a serious d-bag, unless their family is full of d-bags. |

The other son is family, are they not?
This is a legit situation and I think the parents picked the soccer game, which they lost. |

They are family for sure, but the Wedding is a family event, where you grow your family, and see your extended family, and welcome a new person into your family, and the game is a sporting event where you watch one of your kids run around for an hour. |
