I'm pretty confident Marner will be in the show next year. If his performance is underwhelming I think he will get loaned to Canada for the WJC and potentially finish the season with the Knights (especially if they are poised for another Memorial Cup run).

Marner has nothing to learn from another full season in the OHL. At this point I think some exposure playing against men will be important for him to know what is required to make that next step.

The only caveat is the Leafs log-jam of young players pushing for roster positions this season.

They'll never catch him.

(frank) me his passing and vision is off the charts.

Timashov

Pretty cool pics Rob. I notice you tower over Timashov, Marner is actually taller then Timashov it looks like, and while shorter than you, its not as big of a difference as I would expect. You're also taller than Matthews eh?

Both your hat and shirt have the old logos.

How the hell are we going to pay for the Florida Panthers' roster if you don't make the investment in new Leafs gear?

My thoughts are Marner makes it right out of camp gets scratched a couple times because they feel they are protecting him, then pretty much forces them to play him by being one of the best forwards on the team already. Finishes with 52 points in 74 games.

Yeah I think there are two realistic routes:

i) The one I mentioned where he struggles and gets loaned to the WJC.
ii) The one you just mentioned.

I don't see other young prospects (besides Matthews) taking development priority over Marner. It just doesn't make sense in the big scheme of things even if they have to let a couple of their lower tier guys go through waivers.

Honestly Timashov looked like one of the best players at camp and during his preseason games last year if i remember correctly. Hopefully he has a good year with the Marlies.

Wow. That'd be a GREAT first season for Marner.

I expect less but he could surprise me.

Yeah, Nylander will be playing wing on a good line and should have a pretty decent season as well. Some people talk of him starting in the AHL is quite funny imo.

I have it on good authority that he is a Gretzky-Lindros hybrid. I think you should adjust your expectations accordingly.

I think he will get a poop ton of PP time, get some points there. I think pretty highly of him i guess 50 points isnt really a stretch at all imo
