So I know I am in the minority here, but I think our roster actually looks pretty good.
Nash - Brass - Zucc
Kreider - Step - Buch
Miller - Hayes - Jensen/AHL call up
Grabner - Lindberg - Fast/Gerbe
McD - G
Skjei - Klein
Staal - McIlrath
If they go back to the old D system I think we actually have a decent team. especially when you consider that we have a top 3 goalie and a bunch of vets that have been through a long playoff race. I would rather be overly optimistic than give up on the team before the season even starts.

He's solid on the PK, or at least he was when he was with the Isles. 15 is probably an unfair expectation for him on the 4th line but 10 isn't unattainable. He had 9 in 80 games with TOR last season. - eichiefs9
Yeah, if he could reach 10, and do better than Stalberg did on the PK, it was a smart move that makes the team better. Stalberg I think had 9-10 last year but was not so great on the PK.

I'm just stating that there is a risk to having Girardi play.
If you remember back when Brad Richards was on the team, one of the biggest debates during the summer was whether to give Richards an opportunity to bounce back or to use the compliance buyout that summer to avoid injury risk. The Rangers ultimately decided to give Richards another chance only to buy him out the following season, but could you imagine if Richards was injured and we were unable to use a compliance buyout on him? - rangerdanger94
Yeah, but Girardi has also been an ironman. Look how many games he has missed in his career. Obviously anything can happen, but we arent talking about a guy who has an injury history here.

I mean I understand there is always an injury risk. But at the same time what if Girardi does bounce back and plays solid hockey next year. Then that risk of a buyout might not matter anyway.
I work under the assumption you can't let injuries scare you. Yea there is a time to be smart and if Girardi shows next year that he still sucks, then maybe you can reassess and consider it.

Lindberg is out till almost Christmas I think, and I think you have some high hopes for Buchnevich. I still would love to see a trade somehow for a top 6 winger before the start of the season.

IMO you have to play Buch in a top 6 role. I refuse to watch him play with Hayes as neither play much D. I put Buch with Step to balance them out. and I would put Kreider on that line to protect both. either way, I think we have some nice talent on this team, all starting from the back. simply having hank in net I think we are a shoe in for 35 wins. the rest of the team needs to contribute to get the rest.

seriously, bc out of that lineup nothing brings back a top 6 forward. if they could the deal would probably include nash, then your essentially swapping top 6 spots. and w/ the rangers reportedly getting pennies for nash, i dont think another F is coming

I agree, thats why I wrote "somehow", its probably not going to happen unless it was a struggling 2nd line winger who has great potential.

Well his play is going to determine that. I just think its a bit premature to put a guy who hasn't played 1 NHL game in the top 6. Also, Hayes was actually pretty damn good on defense his rookie year.
