Fickle!!! That's what many on this site are. We cry for TM to make moves and he does. We ask that the team be active in FA and they are, yet the criticism loged against him still blows my mind. When we make a move wether it be by trade or in FA, said move has a 50/50 percent of being successful, no matter who the GM is. The problem lies in that we want instant gratification, which in sports can not happen. It takes time for a player going into a new organization to develop a comfort level and chemistry with his new team and in some cases that may not happen. Murray has made moves that have changed the organization for the better. He has been methodical and aggressive in targeting certain types of players and is still looking to acquire those who fit the organizational need. This is not Xbox and trading players takes time and a willing partner, the same can be said for FA. IMO Murray will not make a move until the Vessey saga is completed on way or another. As for what he has done to date, he has managed to change the culture and perception of the organization throughout the league. But trying to judge him is difficult, since the true success can only be determined in wins and losses and by winning the Cup. Trying to judge each move individually is impossible since the whole is more important then the individual parts.

I believe they do have faith in Lehner or at the very least he will have this year to prove it's not misplaced. He played well during his stretch last year on what turned out to be a not fully healed ankle. He stayed in Buffalo to workout this summer. Working out period wasn't a luxury he had much of last summer given his concussion. He should be in better shape this year. The jury is still out but his stretch last year was promising. They may be getting force-fed it but i do believe they're comfortable with Ullmark if needed.

On Johnson, i don't believe that decision had anything to do with us. He made mention last year about how hard it was being away from home having spent all of his years on the east coast. He was afforded the pay raise and the opportunity to go homeward in free agency and took it.

I do enjoy the championing of Johnson. This was a guy that everybody, and i mean everyone bagged on when we got him. The cries of Ocho Tanko. Nobody thought Johnson could do what he did last year. Who's to say that Nilsson couldn't if afforded a long stretch in the nets.

Great point. I had no faith in Johnson last year and he shocked me. It's a bit unfair of me to be doing the same with Nillson.

Stempniak was just an example. There are plenty others

I do think Murray is at the least average so far

Who are the plenty of others and are you sure that GMTM didn't make the effort on the guys on your list? It is going to be hard to sign guys when they know your team is going to be bad. It is a tough selling point.

To that end I think you're way too critical that he got an aging vet like Moulson, given that the team was going to be bad, to sign here. Was his play bad? Absolutely. But he Moulson was definitely worth some extra $ if he helped sell Okposo on coming here (which I heard was true).
