We wont have 5 million in space after we finish up with our RFAs. Plus the last thing we need is an aging, slow doan in our top 6.
- Mentalorgasm5

Hey... just an FYI... that aging slow Doan would have let our team in Goals last season by 4 whole goals over Eichel.

Just saying fam... it happened.

No way. Hossa doesn't edge out Eichel at all. Eichel is a better player right now. And you completely missed the point about Toews.
- bluengold12

Okay, but toews is better than eichel. And a declining hossa, is still more productive than reinhart at this point.

I didn't miss your point. Toews not being a fantasy star doesn't hold weight since he just as good as eichel last year.

Anyone else super excited that we get to let Nylander spend atleast 1 year in Rochester?

(no sarcasm)

- feetontheair22

It would not surprise me if he made the team and we made a trade to make room for him

The thing I don't get about this now is that if he is in Rochester and on an ELC. Does this change the whole 9 game rule? Isn't that only for OHL or other leagues?

If he is in Rochester... couldn't we bring him up and down as we please and it still burns a year off the ELC in the same manor?

FYI I know how many goals doan had. Doesn't change the fact, that he is old and slow, and this team is already considered slow. It also doesn't change the fact we don't have the money to do it.

I can see this as well.

Kane - ROR - Okposo
Vesey - Eichel - Reinhart
Nylander - Zemgus - Ennis
D-Lo - COR - Moulson

Is how I roll in NHL 16.

Just saying... LOTS AND LOTS of speed on that ice fam.

Old and slow but still out score this whole squad..... Can't help us.

Okay. I get it now.

But sure... I get the money aspect of it. It would be if we unloaded Ennis, Foligno, or Franson type contracts to make it work. I agree.

Difference is one is going to cost a 1st.
- Mentalorgasm5

Agreed. Plus Kuli plays Risto's opposite side.

I do think we still need a competent #2 that isn't on the roster yet

We have 14,148,688 in salary cap space right now. Not including the cap relief we'll get from McCormick which will bring us to... 15,648,688

Risto 5,225,000
Foligno 2,500,000
Girgensons 2,000,000

That puts us at 5,923,688. And that's if we sign all three which I'm still not convinced we do. We can easily sign a guy to a 4 to 5 million dollar deal or trade for one and dump salary elsewhere. But I agree in the fact that Doan won't be here

So yes to Doan, no to Nash? I don't get the logic here

I get that...

One is at 5M or so UFA for 1 year. The other we would have to trade assets for plus play 7.8M for 2 years.

Neither of those numbers matter though. For 2 years we are fine with the cap

Hossa only had 33 points last year.. I'd bet Reinhart puts up more than him again this year. Toews might be a more complete player but Vesey will get more points with Eichel than he would with Toews. Also by the way Toes had two more points than Eichel in Eichels rookie season....

Well as soon as Risto gets paid his ~5.5M we will have about 5.5M left over in cap. Zemgus and Foligno will get about 3.5 between them if I had to guess as well. So that leaves us at about 2M if no trades occur which might not be very likely.

Just saying.

Gionta, Gorges, Franson off the books after this year will help exponentially though.

Are we only at 11 right now? Thought we had about 15 or so?

Either way, if you are trying to get better there are numerous contracts to unload over the next year

Not when you fill the roster up to 23. And girgensons will cost more than 2 million dollars.

Edit: at the moment, we only have 11 million in space(McCormick not cap relief not in there)

Yes. 11M and some change. McCormick goes on LTIR so that is another 1.5M in savings.

With that 20 man roster, we only have 11 million in space.

Not sure how we'd resign Risto, girgensons, foligno, and bring in an additional 5 million cap hit.

The way this roster sits...

There is NO WAY that Moulson, Ennis, Gorges, Franson, and Foligno are all here next season. I think we all know that Ennis, Franson, and Foligno are more likely than the others to be dealt. Even Zemgus is brought up in the right deals but I don't know if he is actively being looked to be unloaded.

If we sign all RFA's we have O'Rile, Kane, Okposo ,Eichel, Reinhart, Moulson, Gionta, Folingo, Larsson, Girgensons, Deslauries. That's 11 forwards.

Bogosian, Kulikov, Risto, Gorges, Franson, McCabe. That's six defenceman

Lehner, Nilsson that's two goalies. Brings us to a total of 19 players. They obviously need 1 more forward for the line up. Let's give them Vesey. That's only 925,000 more. and 20 players. Then let's say they have Nelson as the 7th defenceman that's only an additional 650,000. They don't need to have 23 on the roster but if they do want to bring an extra forward onto the roster to make 22 players then they would just bring up another guy with a low cap hit. The point is it's foolish to consider the Sabres not having enough cap room. If there's someone Murray want's he'll sign or trade for him regardless of cap hit and worry about getting rid of dead weight later.

These are all wrong projections because they have players like Fasching, COR on the roster when they will most likely be in Rochester ant not count against the cap. My numbers are correct.

No the roster is really at 20 and that includes all the RFA yet to sign. You don't count the Fasching's or COR's until they make the team

If it's not those players, you have to put someone else's cap hit in their place. With those being ELCs, and vet mins(or close to it) their cap projection is more accurate. The Sabres have around 11 million, plus Cody's 1.5.

Girgensons will not cost more than 2.5 but continue believing that. We also will get full cap relieve from McCormick so I don't know what you're saying there. And your roster doesn't have to be at 23. You really only need 1 or 2 max scratches that are not on IR
