WTF is this??
The Pens win Stanley & the only (frank)ing news I get in Sydney about the Burgh is this misguided baton swinging slither suit wearing indi-(frank)ing-vidual????
(Not that's anything wrong with it).

Schultz $2M for 2 years.
Cullen $1.2-1.5M for 1 year.
Hudler $1.5-2.0M for 1 year (show me what You Can do).
Call it a day.
Do we have $5-5.2M In cap space after Lovejoy leaving? - Barnaby36
No they have about 1.4M-1.7M and that is after Dupuis goes on LTIR so basically at those prices you can re-sign Cullen and that's it, to acquire all 3 at those prices you would need to move 3.5M-4M in salary, so basically Kunitz & Fehr have to go to sign all 3.

CapFriendly has the Pens at about 2.4M in cap space with the Dupuis LITR, with the Pens having 13 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goalies. Porter is the 13th forward, and Warsofsky is the 7th defenseman. |

They also don't have the roster space to add 3 players at this point, they currently have 14F-7D on the NHL roster and only 2 waiver exempt skaters in Wilson & Pouliot so adding 3 players would mean most likely meaning Wilson & Pouliot are headed to WBS and someone will be exposed to waivers.

Yes they have 2.4M in total cap space after Dupuis goes on LTIR but they need around a 1M cushion for in-season call-ups so they have 1.4M-1.7M in usable space.

The next couple seasons could get interesting with only 7 players signed beyond the 2017-2018 season and 1 of those is MAF who is unlikely to still be here anyway, the fans who love offseason actions are going to enjoy the next couple offseasons.

In Spain a suspended sentence of less than 2 years means no jail time. So he's off the hook. His Dad was sentenced too.
I didnt realize he lived in Spain. |

Dumo and Murray are the only must keeps out of that list I think. I'd obviously love to keep them all, especially Bonino, but I think I could live with losing most of them besides those two. |

Crazy question for you guys:
Would you trade Pouliot to the Flyers for Laughton? Both were taken in the first round of the same draft class, both had great junior careers, and both have had trouble staking down full-time jobs at the NHL level.
With Cullen/Fehr going, Laughton could fill the 3C/4C spot, has the wheels to keep up, and is still on his ELC. Pouliot would probably be given top-6 minutes no questions asked on the Flyers this upcoming year.
Will never happen, but just wanted to know what you think of it. |

Fehr is signed for another 2 seasons. Also, the Pens need defensive depth more so than forward depth. So I would rather keep Pouliot. Pens have a plethora of 3rd/4th liner types already. |

Fair enough. I feel that this is becoming a make-or-break year for both guys. I know that Cullen was a key role player for the Penguins, and felt that Laughton could fill that role (maybe be a slight upgrade) for cheaper, and I know that DP has been underutilized thus far. |

I do like the idea of a young C with potential on a ELC. We already have that in Sundqvist but Laughton is no doubt a superior skater to Sundqvist. Skating is a big thing with Pens current coach and system/style.
I couldnt recall a Pens/Flyers trade before (besides Hamhuis rights) so I did a bit of googling. Not sure the accuracy of this site but besides trading for the rights of Hamuis in 2010 it looks like the last Pens/Flyers trade was in 2002. Tibbetts for Manderville. Doubt they'll be trade partners any time soon.

Oh, there's no way they'd do the deal, if for nothing else fear that the player they trade would break out for the other team. Just looking at trying to fill a need for both teams with similar age/contract players. |

No, because it's the internet. I'm just curious as to why you keep giving input in a place where your input is not well-received or appreciated. |

I'm on the side of Pouliot being a bust and should be traded before he gets on the ice full time and proves it. But the homer in me wont let me consider trading him to the Flyers just in case he turns it around. I dont believe he ever will, but I would want to make sure its not helping the Flyers if he does. I say trade him asap for the best you can get (not thinking biased) and if he turns it around its ok since he showed no signs of turning it around here. Sorta how I felt about Despres. Look how that turned out, got a key guy in our newest stanely cup win. |

Many of us here said a while back that 2016-2017 was our best chance to win to a cup...before JR went into beast mode and expedited things. Next offseason could be interesting...but so many things happen during the course of a season. Any of our UFAs could be signed mid season....players could be traded that open up cap space (cough Fleury)...I wouldn't worry too much about it. |

Value is probably fair...but Laughton isn't really a high end skilled guy. I think he's too similiar to what we already have meanwhile being too thin on defense to actually make that trade.
It's hard to replace a defenseman for under a million and its quite easy to find a forward for under a million.
For those reasons, in the words of Kevin O'Leary, I'm out. |
