You said that Plekanec was no more than a 60pts center and that with those numbers he would be a 3rd line center in any other team.
Bergeron is a 60pts center. - Euh_Michel
Throughout is career, Plekanec average has been closer to 50 pts than 60. Precisely, he is a 53 pts guy. Problem is he doesn't generate a lot of offense by himself and (frank) is he soft. |

Even at 53-55 points average, considering his defensive responsabilities and how often he starts in the defensive zone + the (frank)ing plugs he's been paired with.
I'd say he's a fine 2nd line center. |

Plekanec doesn't bring the same level of consistency as Bergeron does. His production wavers as the year goes on and he doesn't produce in the playoffs. He doesn't bring the intangibles that Bergeron does. The issue with Plekanec as a 2nd line center is that you'll get maybe half of the year where he's efficient. He's a good defensive guy that does well when he doesn't get the tough assignments. Plekanec has barely been able to reach 50 pts in 3 of the last 4 seasons and that's with PP time and top minutes.
Bergeron has gotten better with time. |

It started yesterday when your fellow Habs fans stated the Bruins had a bunch of 2nd-3rd line centermen. That's when I countered and said that Bergeron was a top 10 no doubt. - Bruiniak
I think any intelligent hockey fan should agree that Bergeron is a top-line centre, but not a top 10 in the league. I clearly missed the dumb comment that preceded your over-ambitious one. But also, Plekanec is a second line centre, not a third. And I never once in the convo referred to stats because you can make stats say anything you want, as a I pointed out not even a page ago with my Weber v. Subban opinion. And never once did I say I held the truth to anything. I have opinions and enjoy sharing them with other hockey fans. |

If he plays with physical winger, yes he is a fine 2nd line center. I don't really buy the defensive responsibilities argument though. When you control the puck and go hard on the forecheck, chances are you will play your shift in the offensive zone. |

But these are the same intangibles you just gave me crap for using when separating Bergeron from Kopitar and Toews... |

Can't believe I'm defending the turtlenec
5 on 5, Plekanec mostly never had good caliber linemates. Especially in the last few years. I'll give you the playoffs part, where I wish he wouldn't be so much of a wussy. Yes, Bergeron is better....but they are not that much so far off. |

im hoping last year was an aberration for him and not a sign that he's finished. because holy (frank) was terrible after his good start. though you can say that for just about everyone. |

Yeah, last year can't be counted on for much as the team has clearly quit once they knew Carey was done for the season. |

Yeah...last season was a cluster(frank) of epic proportions. Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. I don't know how they managed to still draft as far as 9th overall.
