I think the whole "marner is too small" argument is for amatuers to make..

At no point while watching a game do you ever go, ohh i hope they keep Joe Pavelski off the ice he's too small.. Or that wendel Clarke guy wont be able to handle the NHL..

Any reason to bring him down. He's got amazing skill and plays a two-way game.. but noo.. hes too small.. even if you're talking about his size because theres litereally nothing else to discuss it's still over played..

Let the Sabres and Habs fans worry about his size.

- Tanooki

Briere was a small guy (skinny) and had a good NHL career. Speed and skills is what truly matter.

Gagner still hasn't signed anywhere. That's a bit surprising. I thought he would end up being a half decent nhler
- WingmanWillie

Soft, slow, smurf, terrible defensively, mediocre offensively...and that's just Desharnais, wait till we talk Gagner.

Yup.

But you need some size in your lineup at some point imo.

Having a few very skilled small guys is no problem at all.

he reported a few weeks back that Leafs are looking to add a top dman in the off-season.. everyone overreacted and female doged at him because the trade didn't happen the next day.

Link? This should be fun.

But yes, the way the planned it, I suspect them to be able to build a decent lineup.

- Scabeh

It's fun and actually harder than you'd think. Takes a little time though. Just go to the Expansion draft tool on General Fanager and you can play around with it. Once you check off who to protect, the next step is to choose your team and then you can view your Vegas roster.

I get it. I'm actually on the side that wants Marner on the team next season. I don't think size is as much a factor as it may have once been. Johnny Hockey, Kane, Johnson are all having success in spite of smaller stature.

There was some concern because of MMs target weight of 170. In light of his height (or what I thought it was), I didn't think that was too bad. If he actually is 5'11, 163 is still kinda skinny though. Seemed a bit generous to list him as that. I think he looks much stronger in the images from the media scrums today

Have any of you guys done the full expansion draft simulator thing on General Fanager? Vegas can wind up with a decent squad of NHLers, especially on the back end. I did mine with them having Reimer, Lack and Subban as their 3 goalies and a defense that features J. Johnson, Scandella, Zadorov, Pouliot, Klein, C. Murphy and Merrill.

He looks like he does.

5'9 is really short. To be 170 at that height is pretty crazy. I'm 7 inches taller than that and walk around at 195 when I'm in shape.that's less than 5 lbs per inch

Anybody into sports nutrition and weight management can recognize that 5'9, 170 is a pretty solid frame. The guy is never going to be 200 pounds. He'd probably be horrifically slow if he was

- WingmanWillie

He doesn't need to be.... as long as he's strong on his legs when he battles against big Ds... Marty St.Louis was a small guy that played big against big Ds, could win most of the battles -- Marty was jacked!

Marner's a little young to have that muscle mass..

I miss him.

He was like Garth but he hated the team he blogged for.

It was magical.

In Berger's defense, I was well on my way to hating the team under Burke\Nonis myself.
