Andersen is way better than reims - cmon now.
his positioning is 100 times better. - Lucas.Neilson
Maybe.
but my impression of what i saw of him is that he gives up too many goals top part of the net. (top corner glove hand especially). |

Yessir. As long as they don't make stupid moves along the way.
We're a long way away from competing. As long as they stick to the long term plan, another high pick would be beautiful. |

Polak is a good signing.
Top pairing with Rielly? - Scabeh
At this point, for me it looks like:
Rielly - Zaitsev
Gardiner - Polak
Hunwick - Carrick
Marincin - Corrado |

I'd swap Polak and Carrick. Carrick deserves a shot in the top 4 based on his last stretch of hockey (Calder Playoffs) where he was a beast. He got a taste of the NHL last year too after the Leafs acquired him, so he's not really a rookie

Anderson is better than Reimer at his best.
So, that would then give us more wins.......in the 21st range along with a younger, hungrier line up.
Carey price on this team, would bring us closer to a playoff spot. - Fakepartofme
let's be clear... Andersen is NOT being brought in to replace Reimer - who was good to very good in 2015/2016.
Andersen is being brought in to replace the Leafs #1 goalie from the beginning of last season - and that would be the incredibly inconsistent, understand, lacking in concentration, excuse always ready sieve known as "lil Jonny Bernier".
Andersen doesn't have to post a .947 save percentage... he just has to not give up the first goal of the game on the first fluttering shot... and has to be able to provide a couple of saves a game when the young-D gets in trouble.
whether the Leafs play with 6 rookies or 3 based on how many older guys they keep around...
replacing Bernier with even a modestly competent goalkeeper makes them a better team.... that alone should get them 7-10 more wins... and may keep Babcock from aging artificially rapidly.

Maybe. I admittedly haven't seen a lot of him playing on the west coast. But his numbers suggest that he's probably only slightly better than Reimer. I think anyone expecting more than that may be in for a bit of disappointment.

why the need to compare Reimer and Andersen...
the guy "Thank God" that Andersen is replacing... the reason that Lou spent two good picks on... was to replace the individual who attempted to be an NHL goalie last year and failed - Bernier.

Agreed, I just think Hunwick is better suited with Carrick than with Polak. Polak can stay at home while Gards rushes. That being said, I'm guessing the 1st pairing gets 25 - 27 mins per night while the 2nd and 3rd pairings split the rest equally. |

Not sure why people keep on putting Carrick on 1st line D.
He might eventually become a 1st liner, that's a very long shot though.
At this point, he seems like a fit on 3rd line with Polak.
Rielly - ??
Hunwick - Zaitsev
Polak - Carrick
Gardiner ++ should get Leafs a first pairing d-man to play alongside Rielly.
Maybe Gardiner + Brown or Soshnikov
I would look at Wpg who have very strong right side on D and lack in d-depth on left side. Why not Tyler Myers? |

Did some back reading.. I agree on the Rychel front. I think he will surprise us. Not saying he'll be #1 winger or anything..but I see him starting on the 3rd line...and ultimately becoming a pretty decent 2nd line W for us in the future.
Pretty cool in the 2013 draft, he was picked 2 ahead of Freddy the goat, and now we got both. I'll be honest, I'm really pulling for Freddy. I hope he surprises as well and somehow makes the team as the 4C, but it'll be hard, especially with the vets.. but no doubt in my mind, with them all on expiring contracts..I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the team next yr...and I also wouldn't be surprised if he's called up post TDL if Laich gets dealt to a contender. |

Reimer was a/is a back up...Anderson is brought in to be the number 1. because of Bernier's failure last year.
Other than last year, Bernier has been decent and the better of the two goalies the leafs had. |

5'9 is really short. To be 170 at that height is pretty crazy. I'm 7 inches taller than that and walk around at 195 when I'm in shape.that's less than 5 lbs per inch
Anybody into sports nutrition and weight management can recognize that 5'9, 170 is a pretty solid frame. The guy is never going to be 200 pounds. He'd probably be horrifically slow if he was |
