quite the opposite... the leafs will play him if he isnt hurt and give him ideal minutes to make him look better (see phaneuf) and they will hope like hell that they can move him

its wishful thinking to think he will be taken in the expansion draft... my guess is that it will be bozak who gets taken from the leafs

Yup, they'll add young inexperienced guys and solid 3 liners in the draft. You can find a better version of Lupul in UFA or trade.

well... with nyquist, zetterberg, larkin, helm and nielsen still in their top 6 they certainly aren't terrible by any means

their cup contender days may be behind them but i still think they are capable for fighting for a playoff spot

Agree with you, in the long run, we are better off improving through the draft than overpaying with long contracts on borderline players.

i wonder how a team addresses systems to a young player who just came into the fold..

i would assume he has been given various break outs, offensive and defensive zone set ups, etc for him to study and learn over the offseason ... but i honestly have no idea

nyquist = good but not as great as once projected
larkin = real deal
neilsen = 32 years old, got a few left in the tank - but MEH (bad deal w years)
helm = dumbest deal ive seen wings do - they have AA who can do the same job for way cheaper!!! helm will likely be 3rd line C and neilsen 2nd line C.

I finally think this is the year the Wings won't make the playoffs.

exactly, and they have assessed that well with the additions of Martin, Rychel and Polak.
