At this point in time, I don't think you can even mention Jankowski's name in the same sentence as JV. Virtanen's game is head and shoulders above Jankowski's.

I have to say I couldn't be more pleased with his acquisition - he has shown flashes of high end talent and has that power forward make-up and mentality (this is truly amazing for just being 19 years old!). Benning hit a home run with this kid and he has a very bright future as a Canuck. I actually wouldn't be that surprised if, when all is said and done, that he may even end up being a potential first line player.

If only Benning's drafting skills could be translated to the negotiating and trading component aspects, we are going to be looking very good sooner than later

JB is getting better & with cap space coming up next year the following year it will be critical more so then. lets give him some leeway & allow this offseason & season to marinate on it.

Kane has't proven enough to me yet. Aside from being hurt or underachieving. Hansen is more valuable and cheaper. Everyone thinks of what Kane could be and not what he is. He's been in the league long enough. Add in his off ice issues...

Tread lightly my friend....tread lightly

He has had injuries, to be sure. But, he has also scored 30 goals in a season and that was not playing with teh Sedins.
Hansen's peak offensive production is Kane's bottom end.

Hansen is more versatile and cheaper, but he doesn't add the things that Kane does - scoring, hitting, fighting and rounding out that top 6.
Bottom line, Hansen is a very good 3rd liner, Kane is a good 2nd liner.

Absolutely agree. He is the personification of a great 3rd liner, speed, great on the PK, decent hands and great salary.

just knock on wood that he doesn't get any 'lower body' injuries that turn him into Burrows in the present.

when both Burrows & Hansens playing days r done they should get jobs within the organization. They r that impressive to me.

nice to see Hansen finally getting his due. He's been a favourite Canuck of mine for some time now. The guy is very low-maintenance and sets a great example for the kids. If only we had a few more Hansens, we would be well on our way to play-off success, such has been his important contribution to the organization

I'm on board the E Kane train. We need a second line winger to bring this team out of 8-10 place. I'm okay if it costs any combination of Hansen, Sbisa, Gaunce, 2 or third rounders. He is a legit second liner who brings grit and toughness to the team. Something its severely lacking (even with Tram and Guddy). I'd also take a flyer on Hartnell if Kane isn't available as he is a similar player who Jake could learn from.

I also think Luke Schenn would be a great pickup on a 1-2 year show me deal if the price is right. Especially if Sbisa is moved. He's a big body who can shut the opposing team down, and him and Tryamkin could make a great 3rd pairing.

lol, I hear ya, and of course if there was a proposal that blew us out of the water, then we should certainly look at it. I think it would be very difficult to get equal value, though, as he means more to the Canucks then simply playing a third line role (in reality, he is a tweener and can contribute pretty much anywhere in the line-up). In fact, I don't think there is anyone comparable (any thoughts?) in the NHL (someone mentioned Abdelkader a little while ago, which I feel is a not bad assessment). A very unique type of player - I always felt if he could just finish a bit more that would translate into his being a key asset, and this was something which he was able to prove last year.

I think I am more of a Hartnell fan than Kane if they were cheap deals. I think Kane is just as likely to walk at the end of his contract as Hartnell is to retire.

I know we are supposed to get younger, but I don't care as long as the production is there.

Hartnell is a known quantity & Kane has maturity issues yes.
It is definetly a risk on Kane but one that needs hard thinking if dealt for.

Hansen has proved he is capable of finishing & IMO not a 1 year fluke at that.
Lets hope he can continue. Off the rush he looks lethal & thats no easy task.

He's a great hockey player but a 3rd liner tops. I wish him the best next season but I think he peaked this year.
