you know, in 1975 when the Rangers lost Eddie Giacomin, it was exactly the time to get rid of him, he was 36 years they, they had acquired 22 year old John Davidson that summer, he was the 5th overall pick in the draft 2 years before.
But, to this day, it's like the biggest travesty in team history that they let Giacomin go. It's another travesty that they traded 36 year old Brian Leetch, another travesty that they traded Adam Graves.
this fanbase can't come to grips with players leaving, but yeah, lets trade Lundqvist, that one will go over easy - jimbro83
It would be a dumpster fire in here in the Rangers traded Hank |

I thought all along the plan was maybe to trade away contracts to create cap space to be more players in free agency or what not. But now that is over, so would they just move contracts to create free cap space? |

I don't think there is enough space to sign Kreider, Miller, Hayes and McIlrath.
Maybe just enough so there is slight wiggle room
If team's actually used offer sheets the Rangers would be in trouble |

I think you're underestimating how well the Rangers use their leverage with RFAs |

you know the more I think about it the more I would not be surprised if they didn't make any trade this year... think about it. they just signed Beuk as the D coach. 2 years ago no one was saying how horrid G and Staal were - they were at the least very serviceable. last year for some reason they decide to switch up their D system to more of a man system and our D couldn't keep up. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go back to a zone - protect the net type system and give G and Staal another year.
We don't have the Dmen for a man to man system, our Dmen are just not that fast, but they are sound when it comes to positioning - which a zonal system would help.
just my 2 cents. though I still really hope they can trade to get Shatty. |

with Bodie signed now, and Summers, Clendening, Holden, Graves, there are a lot of defensemen here that seem like AHL/NHL types
no matter what happens, gonna be interesting to see how this blueline shakes itself out |

Yea, from everything I can gather it looks like the AHL team will be pretty good this year. sounds like a few junior and college guys are jumping to the AHL team this year(Nieves, Gropp, etc). I wouldn't be surprised to see Buch start in the AHL either. I think the learning curve will be hard for him, in fact on any person in his shoes. the language barrier and speed/size of rink. theres a lot of adjustments there. |

A little too much arrogance there, some time in the AHL would probably benefit him. Another entitled Russkie with an attitude? |

Trade Hayes for Coyle. He carries a 3.2 cap hit for 4 more years. Kreider for 4.5 for 5 years, Miller 2 years at 2.75 (keeps him RFA). What's that leave us? |

Risk/reward. Hayes has a higher skill set/ceiling, Coyle uses his size better. |

Rangers are using Hayes to get try and get Vessey...they are good friends apparently. Hayes won't be moved anytime soon. |

no reason to give up on him yet. most players have the sophomore slump. |

I'm not giving up on him at all, I think the sophomore slump is exactly what happened to him and he will soon be a 60+ pt player. I just like Coyles game more and he's a right handed shot, outside of Stepan and the phenomenal empty net goal scorer Fast, we don't have any. |

Too lazy to check, but didn't Hags use to be the empty net scorer and Nash the one we said couldn't buy one... |

Fast last year, I think had 4 of his 10 goals without someone in net to actually stop his shot. I looked it up in a prior blog but I'll check again. He definitely has trouble scoring though when someone is there to stop his shot. That's y I don't get the love for him, I like the guy and his hustle, plays good defensively, but he's a 4th line player. He's no different than Gerbe Grabner Hrivik. |
