Flames are in trouble. Have the D in place and yet another backup goalie in Elliott PLUS have not addressed 3rd or 4th line scoring at all.

Gulutzan has his hands full there man I tell ya.

Pretty sure the Nucks favorite clothing store is Forever 18, cause thats about where you destined to finish untill you actually rebuild.

I definitely think they brought in Troy to play with Bennett, they said he was lacking a veteran leader on his line this last season

Well we agree again.

Todd for the life of me how is 30 years old being on the wrong side of 30?????? Seriously. Cmon Todd. I like analytics but this is where you fanatics on this stuff lose me big time. The guy scores 20 goals a year. Why aren't you mentioning that?????? Does that not mean anything in hockey anymore? Was his shooting %'s skewed like Joe Colbornes???? Really, you think Colborne at 2,5Mill is better value but fail to mention his 19% shooting % is a great big regression flag??? Flames Nation analytic writers never had a good thing to say about Colbornes corsi numbers now of all a sudden we made a huge mistake. This blog is out to lunch!

anyone interested in taking ar run at E Kane? Yes he is dhouchebag of the century but he could light it up with JG and SM.

Still not impressive offensively but if that second line would work (I think Shink in the middle and Bennett as LW maybe?) you have a legit shot at a Wild Card spot this year. Think Brouwer can actually be a great addition for that line. Bottom 6 slightly improved but there's not enough scoring there (besides Backs). Love Ferland though, maybe he can improve his scoring a bit this year.

His price tag would be at its lowest point possible! But he just seems to be a repeating offender. I really believe that Brouwer was signed for Bennett and that BT is still working on something for Johnny and Money.

I know he's not going anywhere but Tyler Toffoli would be in my opinion the perfect fit.

No he can't. He scored 30 goals in a season once, maybe 5 years ago.

Since then he is a 17 goal scorer. I hope you guys do get him, he sucks and it will be fun to see Lucic punch the (frank) out of him.

I must admit I am not an Oiler fan by any stretch but it is going to be fun to watch them this year. Lucic-Maroon-Kassian-Hendriks...gonna be a bloody tough team for anyone to play against. They are one Dman away from the WC spot. McDavid 109 pts this year.

That's a balanced line up. Not exactly a cup contending group but not bad at all.

Good to see Tkachuk not being penciled in. He is at least a year out.

I wanted Brouwer on the Oil but not at that price. Small overpay.

Always liked Chiasson.

Huge Elliote fan. Great pickup.

As usual Calgary does just enough to be competitive. I am hoping Lucic Larson are enough for the Oil to suceed against the Pacific but as usual FA seems to be geared towards making the west tougher and east ever weaker.

For Calgary to be a cup contender I think Bennett is going to have to develope far more than I have personally seen. The young guns need to improve thier two way play, especially Monahan. And maybe Calgary will have to trade away one of thier big D guys to improve the forward group.

In short Calgary need thier young forwards to develop and Edmonton needs thier young defense to do the same. Combine the two teams and its a cup winner for sure.

I don't make comments like that because year after year we suck poop, but I can only hope to see improvements.
Flames fans are convinced 2014-15 was no fluke ( even if the data suggests otherwise) and last season was the anomaly ( ONLY due to shabby goaltending).

Now that they have apparently elite goaltending ( ) to go with their elite Defence ( not sure who the 4th, 5th and 6th D are, but they are Flames, so they must be incredible) and their embarrassment of riches up front ( outside of Gudreau, Monohhan ,Bennett and Brouwer nobody knows who these guys are except Flames fans, a couple NHL pro scouts scattered across the league, and the individual players parents), they really have no excuses for not making a deep run in the playoffs.

Bennett is already a superstar in their minds, he needs no further development.

Gtfo here you dumb troll. You're saying the same sh!t. I know it's the time of year where u goofs feel optimistic about your team, and that you're likely a playoff team. But guess what, a few months into the season realization will sink in, your team will be the laughing stock of the league. Your idiot gm traded your best player for a big sack of potatoes and he's not finished yet.

Firstly, I don't expect the Oilers to do (frank) all this year. They're still poop.

Secondly, if you think Hall is our best player, and better than McDavid, well...you are unique.

And lastly, if you think Larrson is just a sack of Potatoes, then you know nothing about players outside of Calgary.

Nice try tho. Tell me more about how amazing Dougie Hamilton is. Is he a top 10 NHL defender yet?

Just a bit more amazing that Klefbum, Joipakka is going to play with Dougie this year that should help.
Larsen will be an improvement over anything the Oil have had, will have to see more of him in the west before I pass judgement.
Keeping low expectations for your team each year avoids disappointment! After this long of cheering for a sh!tshow it seems like a safe stance!
