What a joke of an article. You had to take a day to come up with that crap. All you did was look up stats. You have no idea what Brouwer brings on the ice. Flames have one of the youngest top 9 forwards in the league. Yes they need someone that has been there and done that. If you are getting paid to write this stuff you better start watching more hockey and not just looking up box scores and stat sheets. |

I think you guys missed the point on the "wrong side of 30" comment. Todd isn't saying that Brouwer is old or that he's suddenly going to regress badly. He's saying that we know what we have with him at this point. He's not still developing, so his trends are likely to continue to be how he plays moving forward. |
|
|
|
Probably not, but Shero seemed surprised at the reaction. I think this is a case of 90% of fans commenting haven't even seen or paid attention to Larrsons play, and are just assuming he's mediocre because of point totals and the struggles early in his career.
Flames fans spazzed when someone said he was as good a player as Hamilton, but really, all Flames fans see are the offensive numbers and really, truly don't know much about Larrson....same as everyone else. - Jeropotato

For a guy that was just spouting off about Flames fans looking at point totals, thats strictly what you are doing. Backlund doesn't play with the offensive players to put points but is a complete player. - JimmyBeem
No poop, so is Nuge, dummy. Only way better at both facets of the game. Everyone knows that Nuge is an outstanding defensive player, why don't you? |

Of course! I wrote it. So tell me, what do you know about Larrson and how he played for Jersey? My guess is you actually know (frank) all. |

The Oilers forwards are streets ahead of the Flames, it's your defence that makes you guys better ( I thought everyone knew this?).
But just for fun, let's do the comparison ( as of right now, no 'potential 'biases) of our top 6's
McDavid > Monohhan
Eberle < Gudreau
Nugent Hopkins > Backlund
Draisaitl > Bennett
Lucic > Frolik
Pouliot < Stajan
And we still have Maroon, Yak, Kassian and Hendricks...while you have Bollig, Bouma and Ferland - Jeropotato
The fact that you included Stajan makes this the worst post of the year and you should be ashamed. |

Well I really don't know how you can say Larsson is anywhere close to being at DH level at this point.
Larsson--- 2011-2012 2-16-18pts
2012-13 & 2013-2014 he really struggled & lots of trade talk
2014-2015 3-21-24pts had a better year & showed a bit of his pedigree
2015-2016 3-15-18pts still played fairly solid defensively
Hamilton--- just comparing last 2 years (his previous 2 were obviously better than Larsson's)
2014-2015 10-32-42pts
2015-2016 12-31-43pts despite everyone saying he had an awful year
Hamilton was the defender you guys needed & I seriously doubt Colorado give you Barrie for Nugent Hopkins after you guys just gave Hall for Larsson.
Now that 3 way trade that was discussed & if there was any validity to hit where Columbus would get the #4 & Nugent Hopkins & Calgary got the #3 & Milano & Oilers got Hamilton & the #6......well no wonder Treliving walked away from that deal. No way you give up Hamilton to move up 3 spots. But I was talking about the fact that the two Alberta teams could maybe finally help each other with an Oiler buddy of mine & we both agreed, if that deal was on the table except Calgary kept the #6 & got the #3, Treliving would have had to really seriously consider that. Both Alberta teams would have got exactly what they wanted. Chances are you would have kept Hall & still signed Lucic & changed your dynamics. For Calgary, that would have concluded our rebuild. Too bad, we both have been losing for too long not to have helped each other.
Maybe we still can, Pulji & Yaks for Hamilton?? Just kidding... |

Clearly the Flames have a big need for a right shot RW and this helps fill that deficiency. Add to that, he has a reputation as a leader and popular teammate and he should be fine. That's what July 1 is all about. Fixing glaring problems and paying through the nose to do it. - tincup
This is how I see it too... Brouwer isn't a perfect fix... but he does address some glaring holes in the lineup and I think the overall team will be better with him in the lineup. |

Ban protection post?
Dude is awful. I would rather read Tanners rant 100 out of 100 than JJ's 'prose'. It is so high in the air I am sure he has dreams of taking shts on plebs. |

I am sorry Potato, I was using a point I think you were trying to make about not judging Larrson by past point totals and comparing that to other players. Had nothing to do with Larrson, as I've seen but a few minutes of his play. Back to sensitivity training for me. |

I don't think I missed the point of the blog. A player is entirely his advanced stat line. Nothing more, nothing less. That's why if analytics would ever be the sole method of building a team, said team would always fail. |

I'm wondering why a player with so many intangibles gets a blog about point production and possession stats.
Our PK just got way better and there's zero mention.
WE HAD THE WORST PK IN THE LEAGUE BY FAR LAST SEASON. HOW IS THIS A MOVE WE SHOULD HAVE AVOIDED? |

You all hated Vetter. Hated Colin (mostly for lack of blogs even though he was positive abt the flames) and talk crap on Cordell.
Todd is probably the best blogger here since Yost left. Sorry to Whip ect, but Brouwer was a sht move. I understand it, I like the player, the contract is not great. Not terrible, but not great. He is glowing on the Devils because they have kicked ass this offseason. |
