Well that's all fine and dandy but until the kids develop your not going to get that, so you might as well have some people around that can have there back when poop goes down.

When Lupul is healthy, he is 100 times better than Leivo.

You don't promote a guy to 1st line until he has earned it. Especially in Toronto, because when he inevitably hits avrough patch, the idiots of Leafs Nation will crucify him.

I think I would take Leivo for 82 games of consistency on the 2nd line over Lupul in and out of the line up (frank)ing with the team chemistry every year.

An injury is worse for the team it's not just about the player.

Here's a line up that could be a good mix of vets/rookies/high-end prospect for next year with two new acquisitions. (One UFA and one trade):

JVR, Kadri, Brown
Leivo, Nylander, Komarov
Rychel, Matthews, Marner
Greening, Laich, Martin

Reilly, Trouba
Gardiner, Zaitsev
Carrick, Schenn
Hunwick

Andersen
Bibeau

Some combination of the below players will have to get us Trouba because JVR needs to stay. Even if we could get Vesey, nobody knows how he will do, so JVR should still stay another year at least.

Bozak, Bernier, Holland, Lupul, Michalek, Marincin
Sosh, Hyman, Lindberg, Kapanen
Draft picks.

...I really think Reilly/Trouba will make a big difference to this team, even so much so that losing a high pick/prospect could be worth it.

when asked about Lupul, he sot that sum female dog down right away by saying "no comment"

At this point Leivo over Lupul for me. However we have only seen a small sample from Leivo but he looked very good to me.

ehh, I don't think so. Just my guess though, who knows. But like I said, Schenn knows his worth. If he wants 4 yrs, 2M+ , as much as I like him and would love him back, I'd pass.
