the way i interpret it is that so long as he doesnt miss the last 60 games of the season and the injury is not defined as long term he can be exposed - Dozzer
That's the way I read it. So remains to be seen I guess. |

That's been covered. Lums clarified the continuing part had been clarified. Horton still can't be used to get you to 25% exposed though. And if Lupul is out all year like some seem to think he won't be either. - Iggysbff
Which was the point in the first place that he has to be protected. |

Sure they don't want teams doing that if course. But they have already said guys that haven't played in years ( Horton, clowe, ect) don't have to be protected even though they have mnc. - burn
yeah... like i said... i agree with you .... but they way they phrased it is kinda murky... know what i mean? |

Or, you can look at the expansion tool on General Fanager and see that most of the players you're talking about will be exempt. Here's the exempt list (which of course does not include any guys from this years draft):
Nikita Zaitsev D $925,000
Kasimir Kaskisuo G $925,000
Zach Hyman C $900,000
Travis Dermott D $894,166
William Nylander C $894,166
Mitch Marner C $894,166
Kasperi Kapanen RW $863,333
Frederik Gauthier C $863,333
Kerby Rychel LW $863,333
Rinat Valiev D $778,333
Andreas Johnson LW $750,833
Justin Holl D $742,500
Nikita Soshnikov RW $736,666
Tobias Lindberg RW $693,333
Andrew Nielsen D $670,000
Dmytro Timashov LW $665,000
Byron Froese C $575,000
Here's now the non exempt list, with bolded being the one's who are likely to be protected (this does however include players who are currently under contract but will be pending UFA by the expansion draft):
Nathan Horton RW $5,300,000
Joffrey Lupul LW $5,250,000
Brooks Laich C $4,500,000
Nazem Kadri C $4,500,000
James van Riemsdyk LW $4,250,000
Tyler Bozak C $4,200,000
Milan Michalek LW $4,000,000
Leo Komarov C $2,950,000
Colin Greening LW $2,650,000
Matt Martin LW $2,500,000
Josh Leivo LW $792,500
Peter Holland C $775,000
Connor Brown RW $686,666
Brendan Leipsic LW $653,333
That still leaves three forwards to protect out of the list given.

Ok I will try again. Players over the age of 22 will not be sheltered regardless of games played. If teams do not meet the requirements; a fine of draft choices or sheltered players may be considered compensation. |

Meanwhile France is demolishing the against-all-odds Iceland team 4-0, yet they still feel the need to slide around on the field like jackasses.
Thank god for hockey.
Could you imagine Canada being up 6-0 against Norway in the semis and riding their sticks Tiger Williams' style? |

Your first post on the subject said nothing on the 25% thing. All you said was Horton has to be protected and when you were told you were wrong you started spinning. |

Jesus Christ. Who (frank)ing cares.
So every team loses one player. A whole whopping one. And the chances that the Leafs will lose a really good player are slim to none. Let it go. |
