Nobody made it at the start of the season, all the kids went to the AHL.

By the time that they started having to bring some up from the AHL, Brown was dealing with an injury that kept him out long-term. He was then kept in the AHL afterwards to get back up to speed.

At this point, this is a much weaker Leaf roster compared to the Leafs at this time last year. Clearly, they have opted for the long term, which I think is wise. But, next year, looks like it is going to get ugly very early into the season.

You think Brown will develop well in a 3rd line checking role? Give me a break.
- SameOld

Well, I never said that.... So.

Look at us arguing over which young prospects will make the team.

A good problem to finally have.

All quality players imo

We're entering an NHL where "third line" does not necessarily mean a checking role. Hell, if you're good enough defensively, you get the puck back with your stick, not with your checks. The checks look good, and sound good, but do not typically result in you getting the puck on your stick to make a play.

Rather have Roman Polak for one year than Jason Demers for five yrs at $4.5m per. But I understand Panthers now smarter than everyone.

Are you implying that Brown is as good as those guys and therefore would be successful on the Leafs 3rd line?

That ought to tell everyone where that is.... Cox doesn't like the demers deal, likes polak better. Just makes it more obvious that demers deal was fantastic. I

No, I'm saying that a third line is not necessarily a checking line, despite your assumption when Burn said that Brown could fit in there.

No he saying those guys played "3rd line" while not being concidered "checkers" and were successful.

3rd line no longer mean "checker"

I believe in a Top 9, Bottom 3

Then you can characterize who is Top 3, Top 6 but all Top 9 expected to do something offensively and be good 2 way, 200 ft players.

I believe in putting out the best 12 forwards and 6 D that you can, based on the players available to you and the constraints of the salary cap
