Habs Talk: Mea Culpa, by Andrew Saadalla
A letter of apology to general manager Marc Bergevin.

- Habs Talk

the simple subban truth is that bergevin and Molson just couldn't live with the contract. it was not about "issues in the room." it was not about the "relationship or lack thereof with the coach." it had nothing to do with "race." it was only about the contract. 8 years, 72 million. a 9 million cap hit. a 25.5 signing bonus of which the canadiens paid 9.5 million. look at any comparable. hedman, 8 years 63 million, 7.85 cap hit. karlsson, 7 years 45.5 million, 6.5 million cap hit. drew doughty, 8 years 56 million, 7 million cap hit. subban, in the words of bachman, turner, overdrive "took what he could get" and said fuk you to bergevin, Molson, and the canadiens. even Sidney Crosby, took 8.7 million with the same cap hit so that management could spend elsewhere to build around him.

this trade was made simply and only because subban isn't worth what bergevin and Molson gave him.

If it was all about cap I highly doubt they'd make the deal that saved them all of 1mil

I'm sure it was a combination of things. Locker room stuff was probably one. I'm sure this old idiot style owner/management/coach didn't like that PK was becoming bigger than the team in the public eye either

he was a predator for 8 seconds and he already had a Cowboy hat, was telling Nashville to look out and yippie whippee, this guy is pure entertainer which is fine but it does leave you with thoughts that he may not be serious in times where you needed him to be.

Word is (take it with a grain of salt) that subban's only friend in the room was price, but after this season got fed up of pk's act and had no problem letting that be known in his exit interview.

We'll see how he likes getting peppered more than he already did

Seriously though I think the younger players were fine with him, and the older ones hated him. His maturity in terms of work ethic was great, but in terms of social maturity I don't think it was there.

I don't doubt that taking him out of the locker room wil result in a more mature attitude in there. I will say I hope it doesn't swing to far in the other direction though, Pacioretty will suck the life out of every last one of them if they let him.

Just unreal.

I cheer for Germany, never experienced such drastic changes in emotion in such a short time span.

Two guys missed the bet by at least 6 feet

Impact game was a beauty, came back from a 2-0 deficit.

This article is sarcasm, right?...right?

On another note, game one of the regular season in Montreal is going to be a hell of a show. People may be underestimating just how much vitriol Bergevin and Therrien will be receiving on opening night. I think this trade is going to be an absolute mess for this franchise for years to come. Weber wasn't even the best defenceman on Nashville. I'd have been able to stomach this easier in all honesty if Roman Josi was the one coming back.

Ya Josi would have been better, no team will swallow both PK and Weber's contracts though

Not a huge Germany fan either, but I can give them credit for at least trying to win games.

Soccer has become steadily worse with too many teams just playing to get to Penalties... which is a ridiculous way to decide a game in the first place.
