what about McGinn for 3 yrs @ $10MM? I thought was a realistic range for the Flyers to wade into.
- isaiah520

Yeah, but McGinn is ideally more of a third line player, last season's 20 goals aside in a more offensive role.

He won the lottery in Buffalo when he got put on a line with Eichel (can't remember who got hurt), and that led to top line duty in Anaheim after the trade. Gotta give him credit for making the most of it.

When Yuengling says....

"The Sabres have made worse signings"...I consider that a pretty high compliment. I can only imagine how difficult that was to write considering he's answering me.

Some quick thoughts on this and then Ill let you folks enjoy Independence Day in one of the cities this great country started in.

1. When people say "he was playing with Tavares", do they realize hes playing with Eichel now? The two (Eichel and Tavares) had almost identical rookie years and I fully expect Eichel to be as good as Tavares in his career.

2. Ive heard all the pro athletes HATE the Brooklyn set up. I can so see that being a major factor.

3. I'm sure Ill get some blowback for this but.....this city really is turning around. I'm 47 and grew up 10 minutes from "the waterfront". For 40 years I heard what a waste it was..and in the last 3 years its A WORLD OF DIFFERENT. Our downtown (around the arena) is SOOOOOO damn nice now. Some quick info: the city had a deal with BassPro to build where the old Memorial Aud was. The backed out and that became the best thing to ever happen to this city. We hired a planner that took the approach of "baby step, baby step, baby step, baby step."...you CANNOT believe how nice it is around the arena. Condos, apartments, restaurants, water taxis, grain elevator tours, kayaking, concerts....and BEER EVERYWHERE. (yay)

How you folks think of Mr. Snider...is how we will think of Pegula. Hes a saint in this town.

Now make a few deals and get GOOD....I cant think of ANY better banter than the Sabres, the Flyers, and the LEAFS all being good at the same time.

Its good to see some justice in the world. the guy got rewarded for playing his ass off. Then you have the other side of the coin, guys like Semin, Kovalev, Etc...all the talent in the world and they half ass it.

Then....lol...you have Dwight Howard.....SMH...

My comment was only a Ville Leino joke

I am a fan of development and improvement. So it's nice to hear they are improving. I have friends and family in Rochester.

I'm also a penn state alum and appreciate Pegula and what he did for them. I've met him for work too. Money and the desire to win are two very important traits for owners

Thanks for the write up, Bill.

I love the idea of Hextall putting together a winning team in Lehigh. It's good for these young guys to be around a professional-level winning culture. What a confidence booster for Richards and Carter to have won that Calder Cup and brought that mentality with them to the NHL (despite the 06-07 season).

Curious if you think E Kane may be moved? To be honest I think Kane is a bit overrated, not for his personality, but really hasn't proved that much year to year other than knocking Cookie out (still love watching that).

Not sure if he would be a good fit with the Flyers, depending on cost, but interesting to think about.

So supposedly Kris Russell may receive a contract around 5 mil / 6 years.

Everyone always says he has the stats like AMac. Now he's possibly getting the contract.

I do think they are trying to move him. Tim Murray don't play. Hes a grump. I can totally see him thinking "enough". If we sign Vesey, I think Kane is DEFINITELY done here.

The craziest rumor I heard was Kane and Girgensons as part of a package for Landeskog.

I'm kind of surprised the Oliers and Blues can't get together on a RNH/Shattenkirk trade. Seems like a move that would work out well for both sides.

Yeah, Kane really isn't he player people make him out to be. He's only passed 50 points once and since his rookie year in 2009 he's only played over 70 games twice. Add in the fact he's somehow pulling in 6 mil a year with those numbers and all the off the ice stuff and he's really a player I have extremely little interest in.

I was thinking of Schenn for Kane, depending on Schenn's contract. I think it could benefit both teams in different ways. Adding a prospect for Kane might be overkill. Would be interesting and much better than Yakapoo.

I bet good money that if Murray could get Schenn for Kane, he'd drive him to the airport

For the most part I feel the same. I just find the attention he gets on social media is just socially awkward. Think about it, Matt Read and many other lower tier players could flash pictures of stacks of money, but they don't. He has this weird way about him for having a mediocre career for the most part.

One upon a time maybe, but with the latest allegations against Kane, these players seem to be heading in opposite directions.

I think so far so good for the sabers, minus trading a 1st for a goalie that's as healthy as the Rangers farm system

Without a doubt. Canalside, and everything Pegula has helped put in place have turned that area into something great
