outside of Larkin there is Mantha, AA, Svechnikov, Bertuzzi but u have to spend 10 years in the minors to play for the red wings.

Just goes to show how stubborn Ken Holland is to adapt to the new way things are in the league, and admit his way simply doesn't work anymore.

Nielsen & Ott are ok deals, the rest, should have just saved the money and let more kids play, but of course that didn't happen...Holland's patented panic for forwards moved played out perfectly. And of course...the D hasn't been addressed since Lidstrom retired...so why should we expect anything to happen. Fowler would be a good add, yes, but they need more than that.

Between Pulks, Jurco, Tatar/Nyquist, at this point...package all or a few of them for Defense only to get rid of this pointless overflow of forwards, and not having the correct kids brought up to be given the chance.

Pretty certain that there will be not a problem at all with Thomas Vanek.
Number 7 on the goal scoring list.So he is clearly good enough for 20 and that is not bad for a 1 year contract

I agree I dont really mind the Neilsen or Vanek deals. Ott is w.e he can just be scratched or sent to the minors if he doesnt works out. Helm and Miller are not great deals even though Millers barely costs us a thing.

The problem is we had so few forwards before we signed any of these guys so he went out and signed a whole bunch to spend all our cap space. Issue is we could have been a lot better off just signing Nielsen and Vanek.

As Sven said if we have 18 forwards....its hard to see a world where these kids do actually get a legitimate shot. I honestly thiink AA is ready to play third line and even some PP time. Hopefully we are right and that these forwards will be traded to upgrade the defense. Issue is...we also have a lot of defensman that are out of options.

Z-Larkin-Abby
Tats-Nielsen-Vanek
AA-Shea-Mantha
Miller-Glen-Tinordi/Bert/anyone

Still not sure what to do with Jurco or Pulki as 4th line does nothing for them

Kronwall-DD
Green-Fowler/Trouba/Kirk
Smith/Oulette/Sproul

Ericsson can go away....he will never be scratched with us paying him that much so that means if we pick someone up XO and Sproul and Jensen are out of luck.

This is just what I would have preferred. Notices Nyquist goes away because I assume its either him/Tats that go for a top dman. Maybe they need to add a dman so Jensen or Smith or Sproul could go too. I just dont see how we can have those fowards I listed...and then somehow fit in Nyquist (potentially) Helm and Ott. Seems a little crazy.

Idk how many players we have but I sure hope we has a plan to get it down to 23. I surely hope that does not include AA and Mantha in GR with guys like Helm and Miller getting substantial minutes. I want to be excited about Nielsen and Vanek potentially helping us out. The other 3 signings just make me concerned....

I think one year deals on vets with a history of being productive are great. At best are solid, if not spectacular. But Always worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder at deadline time.
