I'd love to see a Etem/Sutter/Hansen line, that would be sick if Etem can play up to his potential

So in the short term the Canucks improved their first line and their defence for next year, but not enough to make them anywhere near a Cup contender. I feel bad for JB, it seems as though he's getting pulled in several different directions.

Can we expect this line to score?
or take more defensive zone starts?

it will be interesting to see what WD comes up with.

I'm looking at the potential lines and I see this lineup getting pushed around alot.

It's always a crap shoot what wins every year- Heavy or Speed.

I suppose half of it depends on what the officials decide what kind of game it's going to be.

Who's gonna pass the puck on that line? I think they might get 30 assists between the three of them all year lol.

forget about the SC, are we going to make the playoffs?

I'm expecting another move for that gritty winger JB mentioned in his presser. but it makes you wonder what players would be involved in a trade, not going to hold my breath waiting for that transaction tho.

Would Hansen back with the Sedins be a bad thing if Eriksson is on the second line with Bo or Sutter to spread the scoring around so teams are forced to worry about more than one line beyond the Sedins?

I wouldnt expect much from WD that way as his tendency is to roll lines 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4 over and over without variance.

There were times last season that I wished WD rolled the lines a bit more at the end of games instead of having the Sedins out there for more than a minute looking gassed and not so dangerous, or having Dorsett out there.

we do need two scoring lines and see who he is going to trust and put in a position to meaningfully contribute. hopefully Sven can pick up where he left off and Rodin fits into the lineup and does something.

whomever they bring in for the assistant role hopefully has more sense and can take over if needed. Or cast input to the HC to help him

Thats what a rebuild is. I certainly did not expect this season to be an overnight success where everyone has a career season and UFA fall into his lap.

This is just where we currently are due to Gillis not planning a future... it is going to be a 5 year process to respectability .... maybe not even be a contender... just respectability ---- .500+ and realistic shots at 8th through 5th

But Benning is making the right moves. Building from the net out. And he is doing it at a speed that is not dangerous or risky.

Sadly, the next step in the evolution will be the firing of WD although I hope it happens at the season's end.

I think it is fair to say that normally --- all things not being equal like the way the playoffs are ref'd differently, 'heavy' wins the regular season but 'speed' wins the playoffs.

There isn't any one formula that always works. LA was 'heavy'…CHI had speed and toughness…PIT had 'speed'. Plus it also helps that PIT had three of the best players in Hockey in Crosby-Malkin-Letang. PIT got by WAS and SJ quite easily and those two teams were considered to be big and heavy and perfectly built for playoff hockey…it is what it is.

That is why a guy like Kane would be great for the second line. His value is at an all time low. Bring him home.

I would have to agree with this. If we can get him for cheap and straighten him out, we might just get damn lucky and add another 20 goals plus some toughness as we all know, Kane ain't scared out there and can pretty much go with anyone.

Don't forget one of the best pure goal scorers in Kessel

I am unsure about Kane.

If we got the Kane that could play with speed and scoring, that would be great.

I'm getting the impression he is either selfish, a head case, immature or just unlucky with being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

2 seasons remain on his contract. I'd rather take a chance on him on his contract year, but if the price is right, skating on the 2nd line...

I don't feel it is the teams responsibility to babysit him. As long as he doesn't cause sh1t in the dressing room , I am good with having him two or three years as we continue to grow.

Go out score 20 , bang bodies and don't stir poop

Again I agree but that just wouldn't be the case here. The team would be held accountable in some way. I wonder what it would cost trade-wise to get him here and can we fit his contract in?

lol…I won't discount Bonino's or Kessels contribution or a few others on that PIT cup team. But without Crosby-Malkin-Letang they go absolutely nowhere.
