so you guys traded Seguin for Eriksson who is one of the top scorer in the league and now let him walk away for nothing??? lol. He was a top 30 player in the league last season too! - BeatStriker

From what I've read, one-way.
Possible lines so far?
Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta
Belesky-krejci-Backes
Vatrano-Spooner-Griffith
Nash-Acciari/Czarnik/Heinen-Hayes/Randell - HandsomeRalph
Sounds like Backes will play 3C. I think Spooner can could be traded, or at least moved to wing. B's wanna be strong down the middle, and they might be the strongest.
Marchand Bergy Spooner
Belesky Krejci Pasta
Vatrano Backes Hayes
Nash Acciari Griffith

Don't love belesky on second line. I'd switch vatrano and belesky.
I still think we need to ship Hayes out. Especially if we can still steal vesey. Replace Hayes with vesey and that's a wicked top 9.
I don't mind the Nash signing after the initial shock, but it just seems unnecessary. However I'm hoping he's a late bloomer. 20 points in 60 games on a crap Carolina team isn't bad. |

Hayes might be the worst hockey player I've had the displeasure of watching. He's gotta go.
If they get Vesey, that top 9 would look ridiculous.
Hopefully Vesey is a huge Backes fan and he want's to come and play with him... or Bergeron... Or Krecji... he really can't go wrong at this point.
So if that happens, is the goal just to win every game like 7-6? I could be down with them putting up some touchdowns.

Most importantly, however, this likely helps the Bruins protect Malcolm Subban, a player whose development has been stunted at times, from the impending Las Vegas expansion draft.
This is what I've been wondering. I was under the impression the AHL counted as "pro". He's been there two years, isn't he wide open?! |

AHL counts as pro. If Bruins protect Rask, Subban can be taken no matter where he plays next year. Him playing well in the AHL probably does less to get him drafted than him doing well in the NHL though. But he seems almost certain to be taken in my opinion they can't protect. Bruins won't have super attractive other options, and there aren't 3 better goalies likely to be available to be taken. |

Rask has a NMC and is required to be protected against the draft. [Edit] Rask has to waive it [edit ] for the Bruins to trade him to protect Subban. So long as they don't hand out any other NMCs the only other players are Bergy, Krejci, Chara. They can choose to protect Pasta, Spooner, Vatrano, plus 2 other forwards, Krug and one other defensemen. They do have options but they're not going to be popular. |

Why are we so concerned about Subban? A lot of teams will lose good players. I'm more than happy to lose an unproven goalie that would probably never make an impact for us anyway |

win the cup again. my favorite eastern team and you have failed as of late. you let lucid go, i like him, Bergeron is the best selke candidate ever… he is a great player. I prefer Thomas over Rask but oh well. I have been a Bruins fan since the late 8-'s born in december 81 Hockey fan for my life short and thats the reason in ever got anywhere. if i was 6 foot i would have hurt people

General Fanager @generalfanager
David Backes (#Bruins)
5 yrs @ $6M cap hit
NMC until May 31, 2019
8-team NTC in 2019-20
15-team NTC in 2020-21.
So 3 years is going to be where the real value of this deal is. After that Sweeney gave himself some flexibility. Wow. Chiarelli would have given a full NMC/NTC and Prima Nocte until the bitter end of that deal. |

Over in the Buffalo Buzz-world, the last blog was written about how Buffalo has a 65% chance of signing Vesey because Eichel is his friend. I thought you guys would appreciate my Photoshop response:
