Avs sign Patrick Wiercioch , $800K not bad.

Overall it's been a pretty good couple of days, get the couple of other RFA's signed and I'm content with this offseason. Yes losing Larsson stings a bit but we got legit young, superstar up front. We filled a crater and created a hole. Who knows Merrill or one of the younger guys could take a step forward in their development or Shero pulls another magical trade. Can't wait for camp now!

I wasn't too familiar with Fiddler and Lovejoy so I watch some YouTube. Both guys have one thing in common that the Devils have been missing for awhile. Neither takes any crap in front of their net. Lovejoy bloodied Clarkson when he got too close to his goalie and Fiddler had no problem scrapping with Ryan Carter. I realize they are isolated incidences but I was so tired watching teams push the Devils around in front of the net. The Lovejoy vs Pavelski fight was classic. Pavelski thought he had Lovejoy's jersey scarecrowed but lost his balanced and ate an uppercut like a fat guy at Golden Coral.

I watch plenty of Pens games out here and that's not Lovejoy's game. He might be on a Youtube clip or two, but he isn't the next Odelein or Souray or Daneyko. But yeah, I know what you're saying...it's an element we don't really have right now.

Yeah I agree. It was just frustrating when someone would bump Corey or control the front of the net and the Devils D would half-a... them out of the way. They knew they could take liberties without any retaliation. I'm hoping that Santini gets a legit shot at making the team as well. He brings the physicality that is necessary somewhere in the lineup.

Still hoping for a Fowler pickup. I can't imagine Shero really thinks it's a sane move to go into the season with 2 kids on the 3rd pair.

I could live with that. In a perfect world, one of our kids develops and surpasses Lovejoy, who I think would be best suited on the 3rd pair with Moore.. face weaker competition, and have Moore to cover his butt when he can't keep up with the speedy 3rd and 4th liners.

The price for Fowler is going to be high. I bet Ray signs a safe, cheap defenseman. Even if he brings back Palmieri, Josefson, Boucher, Elias, Kalinin and Scarlett that still just puts us at 41 out of 50 contracts. I figure he brings in a vet.

So if we take Clowe and Savards contracts off the books, as of right now, we would have almost 27$ million in cap room.. Palmieri should get us to 22. After that, I guess Elias for a couple.. We have a ton of room. Whose a potential FA next season?

Elias won't decide until August/Sept and honestly I would offer a PTO to see what he looks like in camp, would prefer Boucher to be playing because I think he showed that he can produce at the NHL level from last year.
