Tampa is going bats**t with their spending and extending players. Are they in cap trouble? Can we possibly steal a Killorn or Palat from them in a trade to help them with their cap?

Rangers PK last year was bottom of the league. 2 PK specialists who are very cheap. Not to bright are you..

I liked Grabner when he was with the Isles, even though I think they could have used him better. He was good on the PK just because he kept the D from collapsing too much.

Biggest issue is Staal & Girardi contracts. Besides last year the Rangers had 2 Eastern conference finals and a SCF final in 4 years. Hardly declining. I will wait and see how it goes(more than 1 year) to say the Rangers are declining.
- mdw7413

ok.. In my very biased eyes that HAVE been declining and the guys who have gotten worse are still there and older. Everyone around them is getting better and younger. You guys traded your youth and picks to "go for it".

I have never seen anyone sign an extension 2 years out. They can extend JT next summer I believe so it's not hanging over them all year.
- niteislander

Right. But that's why Hedman was extended this off season. He only has 1 yr left on his current deal

They are moving Bishop and then will be fine.

"In 2015-16, new #NYR Nathan Gerbe was on the ice for only four power play goals against while logging 48:59 of shorthanded ice time."

Grabner is also a PK specialist.

You are acting like these are top 6 guys for the Rangers, they are filling in the spots on the 4th line we lost and addressing the PK cheaply. I honestly don't know how thats a bad thing.

Lets just revisit 30-40 games in.....

True, not going to argue that. Maybe its my Rangers bias, but I still see a team that can compete, and if they can either trade Staal or buyout Girardi eventually, it would go a long way to re-stocking some of the lost youth or picks.

I think pretty much any team that makes it to the playoffs has a chance. When the Rangers finally miss the playoffs then I will realize they have declined.

Yeah, I really do like the signing. He isn't being brought in to score or play top line minutes. Rangers had a big hole in the PK last year, and they just filled it.

No problem. If he helps the PK, its all I want. If he can score a few goals as a 4th liner, thats an even bigger plus. He is being brought in strictly as a 4th line role player. I'm really failing to see the downside.

WOW ok you have a Pk but where's your offense and pp? I wouldn't be happy about either player grabner will help you lead the league in breakaways and simultaneously be the worst and breakaway scoring percentage

We addressed a need when we signed Tanner (frank)ing Glass

"glass isn't here to score he's here to hit. We have other players that can score." Yea that worked out just peachy

Yeah Rangerdanger is just doing his shtick after trashing Grabner for years on here. He can't swallow his pride an admit the Rangers filled a need cheaply.

He didn't kill us necessarily. Our team is still built to make the playoffs for another 4-5 years. But it'll be tough to go deep.

It was a cheap hole filled. It addressed 1 need. Jesus how is this so hard to understand.
