Can someone please explain why TB was able to give Hedman an 8 year deal and why we can't offer JT a new deal right now? They were drafted same year. Can you only resign within one year of the contact expiration?

I do not get Hahn and DP at all. They talk about needing to bring KO and Frans back and build off the core and the team finally winning a round. They did not win a round because of Frans and KO. That was mostly JT and Greiss.

Also the team that has you under contract can sign you for 8 years however if you sign as a FA with a new team 7 years is the max.

Actually I love it. The PK sucked donkey balls, Stalberg and Moore are gone on the 4th line. Lindberg had hip surgery and wont be back till after Thanksgiving. They filled a need cheaply. Why wouldn't I like it? We are talking cheap 4th liners and the PK.

Hedman signed a shorter term second contract. JT signed for 6 years, Hedman for five, I believe.

Biggest issue is Staal & Girardi contracts. Besides last year the Rangers had 2 Eastern conference finals and a SCF final in 4 years. Hardly declining. I will wait and see how it goes(more than 1 year) to say the Rangers are declining.

I have never seen anyone sign an extension 2 years out. They can extend JT next summer I believe so it's not hanging over them all year.

You are acting like these are top 6 guys for the Rangers, they are filling in the spots on the 4th line we lost and addressing the PK cheaply. I honestly don't know how thats a bad thing.
