Meh, they did their job. How did the rest of the teams line play?
To be fair, the Whole team was outplayed, out coached in the playoffs. Can't blame that on the 4th line. - nyisles7
I wasn't blaming the playoffs on the 4th line. I was just partially disagreeing with your statement about how important they were. I agreed they were important during the regular season, but pointed out they were a non-factor in the playoffs. And you are absolutely correct that there a lot of other guys who were non-factors, too. One of them is now in Detroit and another is in Buffalo. |

The critical members of the 4th line that also kill penalties are still here. |

Yup, I do think the Isles still have the two key guys on that line. Time will tell, I guess.... |

Honestly if you're thinking Martin was a better option than chimera then I'm not going to go any further with it. He's not. - Isles_since_6
How can you say MM wasn't the better option?
I think individually Chimira is better certainly offensively but defensively I don't know.
As a unit with the fourth Line will he fit with CC and Cal like MM did I don't know and you certainly don't know either.
At the same money wouldn't it be better to dance with the devil you know than the one you don't?
Nobody knows who the better option was right now but we will find out soon.

And that pk was horrific.
Look, you're dead set on Martin being the better player, this is too draining to keep doing today. Maybe tomorrow. |

The season apparently starts tomorrow. We must have missed the memo.
I'm going to miss Martin but the Chimera signing is excellent business. Theres no way around that. |

Besides salary, the 4th line may still be JC/CC/CC just maybe get a bit more ice time than past.....
With Grabo/Strome/Nelson on team 2 will be a C and make-up the loss of Franz unless another C is brought in. Quine will be the new emergency call-up C - Ur Not Me
Grabo is never healthy. Strome is a dumpster fire. Nelson is unbelievably inconsistent. No way that combo can be expected to make up for loss of Nielsen based on their track records recently. |

Nah, I'm ready to move on from these 3 guys with whom we've won exactly one playoff series in roughly a half dozen years. Mediocrity gets you neither a Cup nor a high draft pick. Weren't we all just criticizing Snow over the past few months for being TOO PATIENT? Now he tries to shake things up, and gets blamed for that, too. |

I'm not meaning to sound dismissive, but I am absolutely sure Garth made the right move letting Martin walk. I also think another move is coming and this team isn't finished |

Again MM isn't a better player individually but he fit with that unit. Don't put words in my mouth. If you don't understand that then:

Hello my American friends, happy almost July 4th.
Matt Martin? Sounding like one of those team guy, grinder, hitting, forecheck type. Not much scoring upside. Sound about right? - weirdoh
At $2.5M he may be slightly overpaid, but not terribly. Toronto got a good one in Martin. He's a great guy to have on any team. Enjoy watching him. |

Grabo is done. Strome is still young. I'm not counting him out. Even though he was inexplicably scratched, he played good in the Florida series. |

Chimera is a nasty wiener who will hold his teammates accountable and can flat out fly. He is who I wanted in the bottom 6 and said so before today. I love adding him to the team and hated watching him when we played the caps. The guy is mean as hell |

So u think that Nielsen isn't replaceable? Or just his production hasn't been really replaced yet? |

6, there were other moves coming aftr Vanek too.
I guess I just don't have faith in Snow.
And really don't like the fact that all 3 of our free agents wanted a change.
We can spin this anyway we want but as much as the Islanders say that wanted a change so did these players and that concerns me, with JT needing to be signed.
